Hi Shazzy,
i can relate to your mum. I had vomiting and diarrhoea after my op too. I lost 7 kgs in a week. Staff said it was a bug I'd picked up. Wasn't surprising. In a 4 bed ward, we were all racing to the toilet. Didn't find out till the 6 th day, they were still giving me laxatives. Bloody rediculous. I got over it ok. Sad to say, the weight found me again. I'm sure your poor mum feels retched. Bad enough getting over the op without the stomach upset. Staff did say it might have been a reaction to the anisthetic.
i hope she feels better soon. Don't let her get dehydrated. I'm sure you know that. Best wishes
Sue

Hi Sue, thank you for your kind words. She was in a room on her own but it's possible she still picked up a bug. I called the doctor and he's going to do a home visit as she isn't fit or able to leave the house. It's only today she is drinking which I'm happy to see. I am delighted your own op went well and what odds about a bit of weight - stay well xx

Hi Shazzy .. I know others mentioned a bug .. maybe it's the meds she's on like oxycontin, endone or tramadol (I found out I was allergic to tramadol but different symptons) .. hope she has gone back to surgeon or dr to see what is causing this .. please keep us advised .. wishing your mum the best .. Cheers Tracey

Hi, the doctor made a home visit and advised if was a hospital based drug. Thank goodness she is feeling so much better today. Mum did mention tramadol did sicken her before but she's on the road to recovery :-)

My niece was recently put on tramadol and had gotten pretty sick (she'd injured her foot while walking). I was fine with it, though it did little for my pain. I'm so glad it was an easy fix.

Agreed. Drug interaction or bug. I think the docs would look at the first one but a pharmacist would probably have a better answer for you. drugs.com also has an interaction checker. After my wife had brain aneurysm surgery and was hospitalized TWICE for serotonin poisoning from drug interactions, we check EVERTHING the docs think of before she'll take it.
