Post Menopause - Anxiety?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi my last period was 8 years ago and since then I have suffered hot flushes etc., but have noticed over the last few weeks that I am feeling really anxious (I do suffer with anxiety but it has got worse recently).  I start off feeling light-headed then I have a burning hot flush and feel panicky.  I do take anti-depressants for my anxiety but they don't seem to be helping at the moment.

Any thoughts ladies?

    Hi Sue

i have also suffered with terrible hot flashes, I haven't had a period for about 3 years, I still get pains in the ovary area like a period is coming.

i can't take hrt it does not like me, so reluctantly I went on ADs again, sertraline started on 100 felt like rubbish, gp dropped them to 50 felt rubbish, back up 100 May not have given them long enough the first time.

some days I can't even get out of the house its that bad and I smell different, even my palms sweat.

since I first started my periods many years ago, I have always sweated, and over the years it's just gotten worse and worse, been on numerous ADs and none have worked, so in my eyes it's not ADs I need, don't know what it is, I also have thyroid trouble and the meds I take for that I am supposed to feel great yeah right.

have you been to see a gynocologist, do you take hrt, have you tried suppliments, not much help I know, but I would visit your gp again.

      Hi Scampi

Thanks for replying.  Haven't seen a gyne but am having blood tests in a couple of weeks.  I take multivitamins but have to be careful about anything interacting with the ADs.  I always said I would never take HRT but am wondering whether it is still possible to take this as I am already 8 years into the menopause?!!

      Hi Lol

I was seeing a therapist for a long time who helped but I am now stuck again in the negative thought process.  Am seeing a clinical hypnotherapist this week and hope for good things!
