hiya all you lovely people. i have not been on for a few days. i was 3 weeks post op yesterday & i feel like rubbish. my knee throbs all the time, its sooooo hard & its on fire. i was supposed to be going the theatre tonight to see wicked, it was bought by my daughter last december for my birthday, but i have decided not to go. its on nearly 3 hours & i could not stand the thought of my legs jumping around for that long. my back is sooooo bad aswell. my spinal stenosis is shouting out, "do not forget about me" my god no chance of that. i would hate to think what i would feel like without the meds, because its bad enough now.. i gave up smoking 4 months ago & have lost 2 & 1/2 stone for my op. i could murder a ciggie right now, but the way i am using my ecig, i would be on about 60 ciggies a day. sorry for the moan. i hope you are all winning the battle. i do not think we are physically or mentally prepared for this op... have a lovely day. julie xx

    Hi Julie,

Sorry you're in so much discomfort.  But after 3 weeks only, it's (in my experience) VERY early days.  I wouldn't have even contemplated going out to socialise or anything else after that time, so you're not on your own there.  Yes I can relate to the backache too.  I wrote about that in my blog, saying my body thinks it's far more entertaining to give me backache so I can't sleep as well as the throbbing knee, and yes I think you're right, nothing really prepares you for how it's going to be.  Of course I was told before the op, that it's going to hurt, and it's a major invasice operation, but I think we don't actually listen...it's that lalalalalala moment...I'm not hearing you...I'm not sure if you've read my blog, as I've sent it to quite a few people on here, but it might give you an idea of what to expect in the coming weeks.  I'll have to send you a link via PM as this forum doesn't allow me to send it publically.  Keep takeing the meds....hahaha

I haven't sent it you yet, but I will when I send this.....Go to the top right of the page, and there should be a 'flashing' thing that say's "new notifications"...click on those words and you should find it...You may have to type the address manually into your browser address bar to get it though as I don't think it arrives as a 'proper link'...

Hi Nikki I too had a really bad night last night with next to no sleep and today my knee is very very stiff very painful and difficult to bend and straighten. I have absolutely no appetite today apart from the biscuit with a cuppa. Really down today and wondering if it will ever get better and would I have been better not having this done in the first place. Good luck with your recovery x

Hi Joanne,I keep saying that, I was fully aware it would not be easy but I really did not think the pain would be this bad. I dread night times and first thing in a morning.

I am on the berocca to give me a vitamin boast! Likewise good luck with your recovery.

Hi Julie, I've just weighed myself, first time I could stand on the scales, and I've actually put on weight! Perhaps it's all that metal, lol. As far as the e cigs go I wasn't even interested for the first week, I think my body had enough drugs to cope with but I felt the urge last night. I was down to 6mg from 18 before the op and hope fully should be down to 2 by Christmas. That's my plan anyway.

good for you carol. i lost 3ib last week, but i have really let my diet go. i look after myself & most of the time, i can not be bothered going round in circles in the kitchen. i hate cooking at the best of times, lol. i only usually have a couple of puffs on ecig each day, but now i am home & in pain, its never out of my mouth, lol. thanx so much for your reply. take care xx

I'm on th ecigs too....I've not had a 'proper' cig since march 2013...and the way I figure it...it's not doing me any harm...I don't stink any more, I don't have bad breath, I don't have smelly clothes or a smelly car...I don't have the morning cough...etc...etc....it's the nicotine that's the addiction and that isn't harmful...so what the hell...I'll puff away on my ecig as much as I want...and wherever I want...it's a win win as far as I'm concerned.

My grandkids dad picked up his first cig at 10 and quit 17 yrs ago when his first child was born, he chewed on pumpkin seeds instead....he didn't make it though, lost his battle last year at 55. He neglected the years of coughing...

      Horrible addiction those cancer sticks.
