I've being dipping in & out during last 5 months before my rthr & recently before, during my lthr. The advice & camaraderie between all on here has kept me sane on more than one occasion. Fingers crossed I'll get ok tomorrow to drive (sanity) & to swim again as its my favourite hobby. Gonna ask surgeon for copy of X Ray of my shiny new hips too. Hubby thinks I'm crazy but they cost us €32k so why not???

Nice idea I would like a shot of mine too, they go down nearly to the knee, I bet the Xray will cost quite a lot too....Ian.

I would like a copy of my one new hip too, who wouldn't! ? Sanity is overrated.

    Good luck for tomorrow!

Update at last. Sorry for late reply as I was out celebrating with hubby & son. Surgeon is delighted with my walking & no limp. Back driving, No raised toilet seats & can sleep on my side after 49 days. That's my lent done (twice) Oh btw we asked about the S word & he said alls OK within normality when I find the right man. He's a flirt. Hollywood smile & big blue eyes but I wouldn't trade hubby for a second. Apparently I can lean down to defuzze my ankles & lower legs tomorrow & put on socks & shoes but not lift my thigh above 90 degrees. What adifference a day makes. Keep feel like pinching myself. Can't believe I've done all this in just 4 months. If my story can give only one person who is scared, worried, traumatised at the thought of op. My advice now is go for it..... My surgeons last words to me today was " now go live your life"

Having a copy of the photo is a great thing to have. I also keep one on my phone just in case I need it - say at airport security...but, mainly because I like to remind myself of what I have been through.

Anyone who thinks they are sane are deluded :-)

At €32k I'd have thought you would get a free X-Ray.

Hope your news is better than mine was the first time around.

    Best wishes

Fabulous news Gossip, I hope to be signed off as well on Friday (5 weeks). I am also going to ask for an x-ray.

I feel it will be different this time because the first time I went for my check up I knew that I was still facing a six month wait for number 2.

I am so delighted for you, go and grab that life of yours and wring every bit of joy out of it!!!!

Best of luck on Friday. It's so liberating when a lot of those restrictions are lifted. I slept soundly on my side last night for the first time in 5 & half months. It's the little things we take for granted 😄

My surgeon was good enough to give me a copy of my new hip the week l was in getting them done although l have a copy of my left and a copy of my right l would like a copy of both hips together as just a reminder of my 2 thrs.. mine to cost for both hips nearly £27 thousand pound this being everything added in like bloodwork follow up appointment, physio ect. Luckily this was not paid by me but one of my benifits through work is bupa which just started as a benifit the year before l started getting hip problems. All l have had to pay is £200 excess. If it was me that had to pay that l would still be walking about in agony waiting on nhs like most of people. I know how lucky l am to have private medical benifit and am so thanful. I am just a normal person like anyone else so in my past everything l have had done at hospital has been though nhs and l will never put them down as l spent a full year in my normal hospital when l was really sick and the treatment l received was 2nd to none. I was really ill and dying as my orgins started to fail and my consultant tried everything possible to save me after 10 months my body was ready to give up and he tried one last type of medicine to which at 1st my heart rate dropped and my family were called in as they did not think l would last the night. Then all of a sudden a miracle happened l turned a corner l started showing signs of improvement. This was in 2005 and l now say l owe my life to that doctor that fought so hard to keep me alive. So l will never put nhs hospitals down apart from there long waiting lists the treatment you receive for hip transpants s probably done by the same doctors that work in the private hospital as well. The only reason l know how much it costs for each hip is because l receive all the invoices that the hospital is sending to bupa. So no matter where you get your hip replacements the treatment and operations wil be the same.

Sort of went of track there from the disgussion as it made me think lol

But l too would like a copy of both hips together but if l ask for this when l go back for my 6 week check up l dread to think what it would cost me. Probably something l could not afford lol xx

Thankfully we have private health insurance which covered both hip ops otherwise I'd still have another 18 months to wait. We just had to pay €500 excess both times. I have to back back in June for another check up & X Ray & I'll get a copy of both then. Continued good health to you x
