Post op sex - how long does it hurt?

Alright ladies... give it to me straight. How long does it take post op for sex not to hurt? I'm 8 weeks post rectocele repair and we tried for the first time. It was painful and I had to stop. Any advice besides relax and lube? Thanks so much!!

For me - not too long! First time at 7-8 weeks was so painful. We were relaxed and ready for it - no problems there - but I had to ask Mr Trizz to withdraw a little as it felt like he was hitting my ovaries or something. No soreness on the lower wound site so I presume the pain was from stitches much higher up or swelling there. Or could be swelling from the increased blood supply from intercourse act - I don't know. Anyway it got better! By about 12 weeks all was fine. Take it slow make sure you're ready.

7/8 weeks was our first try...and similar to trizwhizz, it was a bit nippy up the top! I did ache and needed to take it easy that day I remember.
It continued getting easier...I found morning better (TMI??!), I guess because I'd spent the last few hours 'resting' and there was less swelling/tenderness from the day's work.
Everyone is different though..and you might find that it's fine one day and then a bit uncomfortable the next time..take it easy, both literally and metaphorically!! x

It's still slightly painful 7mths post op and I think our rampant days are over lol, but I think we are all different and some women on here have been fine after 12 weeks 😉

Hi Lynn, we're all different but if you keep using the lube and be careful it should ease off in a few months. Don't forget you have scar tissue now and it's not as stretchy! Someone on here suggested practicing with a dildo plus lube, small size at first and that should help stretch the tissues again. The surgeon tightened everything up there after all. It it persists in being painful you could try to get another appointment with your consultant if you're still on the books. Have you had a post op check yet?

I had the same repair as you Lynn and I'm sorry to tell you it took 20 months post op before it got to being even reasonably comfortable...but we are all different, hopefully yours will be much less than that xx

How is the pain? Is it from being too tight now? Or is it more soreness from stitches? I am curious I'm 3 weeks post

It's a strange pain, Almost to the left side and deep feeling. Dull and deep. I'm guessing it's when the incision was? We tried again and it went much better. Thank goodness I was really worried after the first go was so painful.
