I had laparoscopic procedure this morning and suffered the most excruciating pain radiating from my diaphragm all the way to my shoulders, as a result of residual CO2 (gas) in my abdomen from the procedure! This pain completely distracted me from the fact I have several abdominal incisions. At one point I was struggling to breathe the pain was so unbearable on my diaphragm. However, after much research and speaking to my Doctor I found that the best relief came from a combination of a heat pad, occasional downward dog position (face down and butt up on your knees) for as long as i could stand in order to move gas back towards abdomen, prescription pain reliever toradol and prescription simethicone. I'm no longer suffering and can comfortably lay down and finally relax.
