posterior repair done

All done and successful on Fri 18th. No pain on waking and just some paracetamol at tea time, then wam bam by 10pm was rolling about in agony . That pack thingy they put in and catheter for me is the worse part
? felt like I was gonna burst down there.
?My own fault as i was refusing the strong stuff but fortunately after a couple of doses of ibruprofen and paracetamol I got it in control. Making sure I take regularly now.
?Not had a "poo" yet just lots of wind sorry if tmi and I have to say its the moment I am dreading. I have orange juice, prunes, grapes, rhubarb and started to take movical this morn, gonna continue this twice a day from now on.
?Biggest frustration not being able to do very much, as soon as I walked in the door i went to sort some washing out that was on the radiator before hubby shouted at me.....He is very good but I hate having to keep asking him to do stuff.
?All i can say is I am so relieved its all over
?All the best to those with up and coming ops xxxx

Glad to hear it's all by now, and sounds like it all went well kar.
Please be very careful and try not to be tempted to do anything just yet, nothing for 2 weeks, then very slowly little bits of light weight things and very short 5 min walk.
We always think we can do more than we can cope with as we feel fine but so easy to overdo things.
Take care,
Phyl x

I know what you mean. I had my op 2 weeks ago and get really irritated by the mess. Try and let it go over your head and relax. This is my 2nd op since May, was hoovering 2 weeks after last time and prolapsed after 2.5 weeks. This time I'm determined to take it easy, would be heartbroken if it doesn't work again. Take care xx

I could have wrote this post, Only pain I had was the catheter and pack and as soon as they were removed felt like it could carry on as normal. I have struggled terribly with the not doing anything. My husband was off for 9 days after my op and any time I got up he made sure I didn't do anything. When he went back to work the guilt I felt ( and still feel) was immense as he was out working and then having to come home and do housework but I know it's for my own benefit.
I did make the mistake of going shopping at 14 days post op with a friend and rather than her carrying my bag I had to carry it myself. It wasn't overly heavy but it totally floored me and gave me a shock as to how exhausted I felt after it, and I am terrified of doing anything that would make this repair fail. I am now 24 days post op and have only just started to do little things like helping to cook dinner, or do some ironing sitting on the couch but doing these things tires me out really quickly.
I think the hardest thing is when you can't see the stiches and feel physically fine you forget it is a MAJOR op you've had and internally your body is struggling to repair itself.
I've kinda rambled on about myself a bit but what I'm trying to say is try and not feel guilty about resting, you really do need to for your body to recover properly. Good luck with your recovery xx

I am sort of getting used to it now. Hubby is not back to work until next Monday so making the most of him being home. However I write a little list each morn of anything that needs doing as I get fed up with having to keep asking. I feel like it's constant "oh can you do this please or can you do that 😁😁

Dear Kar,
dont do anything. The stress you put on your netherregions will be too much. Lifting anything stresses the pelvic floor ad you have been through alot! Sweet corn with everyhting helps BMs after trauma (fishers and so on) might be worth adding to everything else! Just allow yourself the time. Read something you've never had time for before and let hubby run around. He needs you well for the next few decades!! Xxxx good luck!

Good luck with your recovery and thank goodness for a caring husband! I don't know yet if I will be having a bladder prolapse operation - I am waiting for a 2nd opinion. How long did your operation take and how long did they say the recovery time will be? All the best, Tricia

Bladder prolapse was 11 years ago. I was in hosp for 3 nights and then off work for 11 weeks. For me I am so glad I had it done . Don't be scared of surgery if you need it x
