i had cataract surgery in my right eye then a few weeks later i had a vitrectomy membrane peel in the same eye. at my final follow up on my cataract surgery i asked when i could expect my vision to clear up . the surgeon said" we didnt do the cataract surgery so you could see better" i then asked why did i go through all this then. he said it was so the other surgeon could see to do his surgery. i replied "then why did the other surgeon ask me which operation i wanted to do first.?????? anyone have any thoughts. obviously i am not very happy

What an odd comment to make by surgeon. Cataract surgery (if done to fix a cataract) most of the time if successful does improve your vision (for minimum of one distance if not more depending on lens selection).
Since cataract surgery has your vision been consistently blurred or has it been clear at all. Often times it is blurry for a day or two till the eye is no longer dialated. But most people see clearly following day.
Surgeon has either got lens power wrong or there is uncorrected astigmatism or another eye issue going on. But normally (prior to membrane peel) you should have seen results from cataract surgery.
I would suggest you make another visit but doesn't sound like this surgeon is the person to speak to. Is there someplace else you could go for 2nd opinion?

It shouldn't be blurry at all distances. Should be sharp for 1 distance(if mo ofocal lens set for far). The cataract is what blurs the vision. Once natural lens removed and new lens inserted you should experience good vision unless something else was going on with the eye.
