Problem with wind

I'm just wondering if anyone else has the feeling of wanting to pass wind, which seems to exacerbate the discomfort, this seems to start in the afternoon and usually lasts into the evening. Just feel if I could actually do it, it would ease

    Yes Carolyn,

I do get this problem, with me it is exacerbated by sitting and resting all the time. As I have become more mobile it is not so bad!

The only way to relieve it was to move about, could be really sore and uncomfortable, and moving about too much made my repair area more uncomfortable.

Hi, I think you are the lady that has had the A&P 4 weeks ago the same as me.

i get wind late afternoon early evening and have had pain in my bottom really bad as well as the tummy, I find moving green tea and wind ease help, also get someone to rub the bottom of your back.

Hi Gillian, yes I'm that person. Sounds like mine, aching in the bottom and at the sacrum, which is more of a pain. Not really had much trouble with my tummy though.

Hi Gillian, no I'm not taking anything as bowel movement isn't so much of a problem. I was told when leaving hospital that once I'd been to the toilet not to continue with movicol as it could cause diahhorea

OH that is really good that you can go normally, I take one to two a day as my surgeon said you can not push to poo, I just go normal in a morning but nice and soft.

however sitting on my bottom resting is bad for me as putting a bit of waight on so from yesterday walking s lot more and start slimming world on Monday 🙄😂

I don't think you are alone.  When I was preparing for my surgery, I had read about it enough here that I bought medicine for gas to have ready.  It does seem to work.  I used it most right after surgery when everything was so tender but it might be helpful still... I should try that today.  I had my op about 2 weeks after you did.

Hi. Carolyn . I had rectocele surgery 8 week today and have same wind problem. Sat at a desk all day and by afternoon my lower abdomen aches and is swollen. I also have urge to pass wind but find even that difficult! Get home and do nothing. Not seen much info on this type of problem.

That sounds uncomfortable, my anticipated date to return is 31st may but still have to get the all clear from my consultant next week and like you I will be at a desk

Yes in the earlier weeks of recovery was told to avoid flatulence inducing foods like onions, beans and fruits like apples and grapes. Hope this might help you, I also take movicol which helps too. Mik x

I'm having this problem also, wind builds up in the afternoon and comes out a lot in the evening, very uncomfortable but only smells if I have eaten chocolate!! Needless to say I've had to give up chocolate! Really fed up of the lumpy swollen feeling in back passage 14 weeks and no sign of it going. Had my check up last week, she said I'd healed well but was very vague on why I'm getting pain and the swollen lumpy feeling just said it could be nerve endings and discharged me. Hope I'm not left like this.

Didn't realize chocolate to blame for smell, will need to cut it down specially before I return to work!

I find that the heavy, bloated, swollen feeling that i get in back passage tends to disappear once I've been to Toilet (BM).

I find that even the back wall of vag... is less uncomfortable once I've been to toilet and can feel sore and uncomfortable when the bowel is full.

I assume it will settle down once deep tissue healing is complete!

Matron however will know if that is the case.
