Problems with my wound

Hope you don't mind me asking but how old are you lee I'm  52 this year it just seems most of the women on here are still quite young

when I took the sterile strips off the one on the right was a bit green and smelly. My hubby said that the scar looked red and weepy. The doc said that it had opened a bit but the rest of the scar was nice. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear it.

its so tricky trying to look down on the wound. i checked mine in a mirror. Everyone i told was totally shocked that you have to take your own dressing off and check for infection. Like you  say Astro, you do feel a bit lost of what to look for, mine just looked red and sore and a few bit of the clear stiches were visible. these have now fallen out , though took 7 weeks.

Yes you are right. I have just started to see my scar in the last week due to my big belly. Ha ha

my scar is sore now though. Hope it clears up soon

Sure the antibiotics will clear it up soon.

Mine, 7 weeks on looks like a line drawn on with a dark red marker, hope it lightens up soon. I bought some bio oil and will put that on it each night as i think this should be ok as its no longer a broken wound.

Anyone else used bio oil on the scar

I hope so. 

I have bio oil but just waiting till it's safe to use

at my post op I was told not to use bio oil untill after 6 months post op

Yes it has been great but the sterile strip had been over the weak bit. It's not a huge bit - about an inch. Hopefully antibiotics will clear it. I a bit disappointed but these things happen

I'm having the same problem.. Mine started three weeks ago the middle of my scar had opened slightly and was oozy & smelly. Had antibiotics didn't clear it.

Went for my third visit to the nurse yesterday now it's opened up a bit further along still oozing.. She took a swab yesterday.. Just cleaning and changing dressing every 2 days will edit to see what result is..

Getting a bit fed up now I must admit.. Last couple of days have had quite a bit of back ache too... Have you had this...

Hi Di. 

That's a shame. It's annoying eh. Mine is at the edge on right hand side. I feel it has set me back a bit as its sore now when I'm moving around. Yes I have had a lot of backache but the doctor told me it is because of my posture. I must admit I am walking a bit stooped. 

I am going to take it easy I think and hopefully this will clear up. 

Can you still have a bath?  I forgot to ask her

good news is that I got the all clear from histology today.

I've been told to just shower then change my dressing after..

It certainly is s long road this recovery isn't it...

I have docs again on Tuesday but it seems to have healed up.

Was just thinking about you and how your doing.

My wound still not healing😓 still a small hole that just won't close up. Have left dressing off but still not closing so back to nurse on Thursday. It's not infected though which is something.

Are you still getting hot flushes?? I've been on my HRT for nearly 3 weeks but they are getting worse not better not sure how long I have to give it..

Feeling better in myself doing a bit more now but still quite tired and still painful at night sometimes..

How's things going for you hoe your well

Thats a shame. I just asked my hubby to look at my scar and he thinks it's still a bit red. I will ask doc on Tuesday. I'm still really tired and did a few things today so shattered tonight. Still got sore backache. 

My hrt is about the only thing that is working well. My gel is really good. I have had no hot flushes since I started to use it. 

Sorry to ask again but how many weeks post op are you?  I am 6 weeks on wed. Hoping to get another line on Tuesday from doc

i banged my belly into the back of a shopping trolley today ha ha. That was painful

We had our ops on the same day be 6 weeks on Wednesday. Im getting weekly sick notes now but not looking to go back til beginning of June.

Ouch I bet that really hurt 😲😲. The car door swung back on me today and it made me cry😓😓.. Still can't believe that it doesn't take much to make tummy sore still and getting so tired thought we'd be over all that by now..

Oh yes so we did. I think I'm getting dementia ha ha 

i got 2 weeks from surgeon and 4 weeks from doc so needing new one on wed. I'm. It sure what my doc will say when I go but I don't intend going back until I am 100%.  

I will let you know what doc says.
