I’m 26, always have regular periods though with serious cramps on the first day. The last cycle i had dark brown spotting for 12 days after my period ended for around 3-5 days. On the initial days I thought it was stress (I had a lump in my breast which stressed me out a lot. Luckily it was benign) or ovulation. But it didn’t stop so I googled and it seemed to point me towards cervical cancer -
I had spotting and the urge to pee frequently, and my spotting was mostly dark brown, on other days watery, slightly pink. I panicked.
Went to see a gynae. Did the smear test which I have never done before. I am not sexually active but am not a virgin. I was so convinced I had cancer. In the same visit my doctor did an ultrasound on me. And she said that my womb and ovaries look fine which meant that it wasn’t cyst or fibroid. That left me with hormonal imbalance or cancer. All the websites and forums seem to tell me the worst.
Today I got back my Pap smear result, it’s clear, albeit with bacterial vaginitis. Blood test shows I had slight hormonal imbalance. I’m so relieved. Thought I should add some positivity and good news to this forum and the internet. Don’t always think the worst!
I couldn’t slp at all for nights while waiting for results.
I’m going to get the gardasil jab and a Pap smear next year. Do get it too if you’re of the right age.
All the best, good luck and stay positive all!!!
