Propranolol

Hi all, I really need some advice. I was prescribed propranolol yesterday after passing out at the wheel of my car at the weekend ( I managed to stop it in time). This has triggered panic attacks every time I get in a car whether driving or not. I have the pills in front of me, unopened, but am scared to take them due to the side affects. A colleague had these once and suffered night terrors.

I just dont know what to do and am having a bad day with the anxiety so if its worth the risk Id like to take one now.

Can anybody help me.

Iam on this medication, only on 10mg, I've been with them, had general tiredness, a little pins and needless in hands but that has gone , but generally been ok, I still get the odd missed eptopic beats but I am sleeping better, I do get woken up in the night sometimes, but I've always been like that anyway for years. Overall feel ok on them just a bit tired and lethargic.

Hi, I started Propranolol last week for general anxiety, it started working within an hour and just stops me getting worked up. When confronted with anxiety I still feel a little uncomfortable but don't get the faster heart beat, urge to run away or onset panic. It seems to work for most people, I take 40mg twice a day. I would imagine that this will prevent your panic attacks/anxiety when driving, you'll just feel a bit uncomfortable.

The only noticable side effects for me were a slightly surreal feeling due to my heart beat being lower and some changes to my sleep patterns - waking up a few times in the night, waking up earlier in the morning than usual, slight anxiety/depression in the mornings.

Had a similar experience, but I wasn't driving a car..wink. I am taking a 10mg inderal twice a day from then. It has worked absolutely fine with me. And don't worry about the side effects... in fact if you wont take the pill the effects will be more severe. Try a small dosage at first may a 10mg will work. If not you can consult your doctor and increase it according to your convenience. ....

If you passed out or near passed out while driving, you sound like you need a full work up, including a stress test to check your heart out. Not knowing your age, older people often are in need of pace makers and need stress test and other tests to determine the problem.

I dont think I would take any medication till I had a full physical and lab work done. You have guestions about your fears and the medicine, I would discuss this only with your doctor and if he doesnt give you any satisfaction, then get a second opinion. Do not take peoples advice. See the professionals!!!
