Hi looking to see if anyone has same fear as me.

I'm been put on 10mg of propranolol daily for palpitations and anxiety...my pulse rate normal sits between 60-70 BMP and when I take these propranolol I feel like my heart beat is just going to stop which is making my anxiety 100% worse...my question is can't my heart just stop beating ? Can I half these tablets down to 5mg? Can't get this shaky constant panicky feeling away...help anyone??

You must direct these kind of questions to your doctor.

Hi don't worry your heart won't stop!! I was on 80mg, 10mg is a low dose. You can half them but won't do much.

I was on 10mg four times a day.  At first it slowed my heart and lowered my bp quite noticeably but now it has almost no effect except to keep me calm and steady!  As for your heart slowing so much that it might stop, I am told we should only worry if the heart rate drops to 43 or less.  Not likely on the tiny dose you are on!  Don't worry, give this another week and I bet you will hardly notice any difference to your normal heart rate.  What concerns me is that you might not be having enough to help keep your symptoms under control.  Your 10mg will only last 4-6 hours, then you are not protected at all.  Might be worth asking your GP?  By the way, I am now on 80mg slow release capsules and I feel absolutely fine!

What's the difference in the slow release ones? I thought all propranolol was the same? I just feel I'm constantly feeling my pulse as I think it will stop god knws why I'm thinking this as I've never done before ! I've not long had a baby by c section and my blood pressure went up shortly after and o was never out the hospital gettn checked also on a bp tablet to lower it and they gave me a betablockebetablocker on top of my own and my heart rate fell to 42 safe to say I panicked and I think maybe this is where its coming from as my anxiety has shot through the roof !!

The slow release gradually go in to your body through the course of the day.
