Its is unfortunate that these meds can make you feel worse before you feel better so id say what your feeling is probably quite normal. Im on wk9 and have had quite a few side effects come and go, heightened anxiety being one of them. It does get better! If you've not really had other side effects then youve done better than me:-)
If you search for timetable for recovery with fluoxetine on net there's a really good post from someone whos going/has been through this. General concensus is 10-12weeks to feel the majority of the benefits but some feel better much quicker. Im not trying to scare you but its helped me to understand its not a quick fix but is a long bumpy road, as many on here say 2 steps forward and one back. So having days feeling worse again is "normal".
At 9 wks I feel a million times better than before I started meds but not fully recovered, still have bad days. But overall it has been worth it and im starting to feel more like myself again.
SticK with it, keep reporting back to your dr as if the anxiety becomes too much to cope with they may offer something to help with this in the short time while your body gets used to the fluox.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Theres lots of people on here understand what you're going through and can give a real insight into the whole process and offer good advice. You're not alone!
Take care and let us know how you go on

I suffered from depression and anxitey until I started on Prozac. I am not currently taking it as I am no longer depressed. If I feel I am getting depressed I go back on the Prozac. I found it to be a far better drug then what I was always previously priscribed

I suffered from depression and anxiety until I started on Prozac. I am not currently taking it as I am no longer depressed. If I feel I am getting depressed I go back on the Prozac. I found it to be a far better drug then what I was always previously prescribed. All the previous drugs where downers such as Sara pax and valium.
My understanding of the drug is that it gets to the root of the problem of a chemical imbalance. The other drugs could only try to mask the effects but it did not only mask depression but all other emotions as well.
The fact that you felt better is a good indication that your depression is due to an imbalance which is good news as it is now treatable. It will not happen overnight but it will happen.
While you wait for your depression to totally lift there is a number of things you need to do. Exercises to lift your self-esteem, feeling of inner strength and your ability to relax.
Depression can take its toll even when the cause has been removed the damage it has done to self-esteem and confidence needs to be repaired.
If you need to talk to someone please feel free to message me.
Take care

Hi Nix
I first started on Prozac about 16 or so years ago. I didn’t really have any side effects except that they gave me severe stomach aches but I had bleeding ulcers prior to starting on Prozac.
The first day I took one I cooked a meal for the first time in months for my husband. It was as if a dark cloud had lifted only to return about 6 to 8 hours later. I have been told by the doctors that it does not work this way, but it did for me. I do know for many it may take a couple of weeks to feel improvement.
I was amazed as it was the first medication that they had offered me that did nothing but lift the emptiness of depression. I don’t think Prozac would cause Anxiety. It may not disappear as fast as other symptoms but once you have solved the root of the problem you are able to work on your emotional welfare a lot easier.
I fully understand your fear of becoming house bound I was often that way before treatment with Prozac.
Let me know of any improvements/ senses of achievements you feel as I am sure you well soon start having many.
Cheers
Gloria
