HI I am on 10mg feeling worse week 11, more intrusive thoughts feels as though my mind is totally blocked, sweating more already menopausel, also joints ache more lower back wrists, have gone down to 5mg today, not sure what to do, any stories would love it hear,

Hello, I would ask about switching to a different AD. Prozac should have helped you by now. Also any dose drop may make you a bit worse for a short while as dose changes on Prozac usually result in a temporary set back. I think you'd need a higher dose for intrusive thoughts. More like 40mg to 60mg. Do you have pure OCD (not OCD) ?

HI Susan.
A year ago I took prozac for peri meniposal syptoms of anxiety and depression, took them for 12 weeks at 20 mg and stopped.
They did nothing good for me, just made my anxiety worse and I was having intrusive thoughts. I stopped them cold turkey, which some say not to do* but honestly the withdrawal was no different than I felt on them....for me they were horrible.
I can't tell you what to do, I'm not a doctor, I have read that for some people they have great results. We all have different chemistry so what works for some may make another person worse.
After the bad experience I had with prozac I absolutely refused to try any other AD my doctor tried to prescribe....I can't take chance of 12 weeks of possible feeling horrible ever again.
Menipose and perimenopse are horrible....for me I found the only thing that worked was to keep very very busy so I had no time to think and keep so busy that a night I'd pass out...eating as healthy as possible and lots and lots of yoga, like sometimes 3 sessions a day....the last 6 months I've been a lot better, it's still rough during my week of pms syptoms, but I'm much better the rest of the time..
