Questions about Open Surgery for a Cyst

Posted , 8 users are following.

Hello all.

I need some advice from ladies who have had surgery to remove a large cyst.

I am having a Laporatomy to remove the 7cm cyst and poss the ovary and tube. Yes I am scared for the surgery but this i cannot control.

I do have questions that I am sure ladies who have been through the same, can advise.

I am a forward thinking and planner and want to ensure my recovery is as best as possible.

So I apologise for the questions.

When I return from the hospital will I be able to do basics like making a easy lunch and a cuppa?

Did you ladies find it best to rest on the sofa or in bed?

Did you find a decrease in appetite?

I need to prepare my hubby as he useless at normal stuff so need a plan in place for him. Including maybe getting him to book a week off or so if I need him to help me ie getting my lunch

Sorry if I sound dumb but I have never had this and I have so many queries.

Has to be the big surgery as its unsure what the cyst is and they need to do biospy while I am under as the ovary and tube may need to go too.

Also another query, from a seasoned worrier here.

I am at work (I work in an office) and started to feel sick all of a sudden.

I think its because I am sat still for too long and the cyst is pushing against stuff making me feel achy and sick.

    I feel uncomfortable.

It was difficult for me to get in and out of bed without help (or a stool so I could use my legs to push myself up/down).  I found the couch to be too low and would make my use too many sore stomach muscles to get up/down.

I didn't have any increased appetite, although I was constipated for 3-4 days.  Try drinking lots of water and veggie juice - this will help.

After about 2 weeks I felt great - just sore sometimes.  Other than lifting anything heavy you will feel great.

    Good luck with everything!! xoxo
