Quick Cool Relief

Hi all,

I can't thank the people on this forum enough for sharing all of their ideas to combat something that has severely impacted my life. Even with many of the strategies that you've outlined, I have horrible flares while traveling. Sitting (often on leather) for long periods of time leads to terrible irritation that makes it quite difficult to fall asleep. Anyway, I'm traveling now, and I do not have my normal go-to's with me. (I'm also sharing a hotel room with my parents, which adds an extra pressure of "pretending your crotch isn't driving you insane right now.") I picked up some hydrocortisone cooling gel in desperation. Sweet relief! Today was one million times better than yesterday. I wanted to share for anyone who might have the same sudden flares. I often wish I had numbing cream for the area, and this was the closest I've ever come. (It does have a cold sensation like a mild icy hot, but I prefer that over intense itch.) I don't think this is a long-term plan, but it was a great near-instant relief.

I can imagine what you are going trough, and thanks for sharing your quick relief.

Have you visited a GYN? or a dermatologist? you should ask for a prescription to deal the itching.

ask for triamcinolone it has helped me wonders with the itch and even the parches.

I hope you can feel better soon.

I've been to a GYN several times. It was probably a year of trying different things before I asked for a biopsy and got a LS diagnosis. I have a prescription steroid, but I will ask about triamcinolone! Thank you! The steroid has helped me a lot over the long term, but it doesn't provide any instantaneous relief for me. The cooling gel did (thankfully!). Really, thank you to you and the others on this forum for so many ideas to control LS.

The triamcinalone is a medium strength steroid. If your dr thought you needed clobetasol the medium strength probably won't do much for you.

I started with the medium, moved on to the clob when the LS spread a bit but put myself back on the medium strength as the clob felt too strong after a while.
