Really hope someone can help :(

I had my a&up repair as well as a pelvic floor repair a week ago.

I reported on here how I felt amazing and was walking about the following day and didn't even feel like I've had an op!

Well the past two days I've hit a huge brick wall. I literally can't even get off the couch to have a wee, I have 0 energy!

I stopped taking my tramadol because they was making me sick so I'm on no pain relief and just realised I haven't had a poo in a week (maybe that explains the chronic lower backache I've got)

I've been taking it really easy but the passed two days in completely wiped out, heart pounding, feel dizzy!

In also leaving a blood stained water from down below, it smells vile! I rung the hospital and they told me to see my gp but he's got no appointments!

Thank you x

If it smells, it's usually infection. My consultant actually smelt his own hand after examination. my temp was only 37, so you don't always need a high temp. You should ring out of hours.

Maybe, you feeling il was the internal infection starting, before you got symptoms you could see - blood, and smell.

My infection lasted for 4 weeks, 5 days on IV in hospital.

let us know how you get on, good luck,

Ate you taking any stool softeners or ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and may help with the pain.

When I read your earlier post Laurajadey I knew from professional and personal experience you were not going to feel that way for very long.

You may have an infection so you should get some medical advice from your GP. If a receptionist is telling you there isn't any appointments she's not being honest. All GP's have to offer emergency appointments and if they don't report them to your local health trust. Most areas have walk in centres so check to see if there's one in your area, I'd be surprised if there wasn't.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and take paracetamol. Stay in bed if that's where you feel more comfortable.

This really sounds like an infection to me.  Your doctor really should be able to slot you in for an emergency appointment or even do a home visit, but if you're being told there are no appointments, I'd suggest phoning 111.  This is a 'non urgent' NHS line but if you tell them your symptoms I believe they can make sure you get the attention you need.  I hope you're better soon, but I think you may need antibiotics.  I think if you tell your doctors that the hospital has told you that you need to see the doctor, they should be able to oblige!

Laurajadey, that sounds EXACTLY how I was. The up then the big down, the constipation and even the vile smelling discharge. Though it was the antibiotics rather than the painkillers that made me feel weird. And I kept having really vivid dreams which also meant I was exhausted. I'm now at week 5 and starting to feel like myself again. From my own experience:

Priority 1 - get rid of the constipation. It makes you feel rubbish and puts pressure on the repair. Everyone is different but I took Movicol (lots!) (and still do) plus senokot to get it moving (but you can't take these for more than a week. I even resorted to suppositories out of desperation at one point. Worth it though.

Priority 2 - rest. If you are fidgety find a job you can do from the sofa or your bed.

Priority 3 - take some over the counter painkillers. Paracetamol and nurofen really take the edge off.

I read somewhere that although your head can rationalise the surgery your body is screaming what the hell have you done to me. This makes sense, as we keep being told - it is major surgery you just can't see it.

Hope you start to feel better soon. Stay hooked in here, it's a lifesaver!

Just a thought - I was told to take Ibuprofen too because it's an anti inflammatory.

Anti inflammatory drugs are excellent but make sure you take them with food because they can irritate the stomach lining. I only mention it because if you aren't feeling well you may not be eating as much as you normally would. Most doctors will tell you that paracetamol is an excellent painkiller and you can take it alongside an anti inflammatory or in between doses.

Thank you all for your feedback.

I too have been having some really strange dreams, I keep waking every hour.

I've stayed awake all day just so I get a decent sleep tonight.

I'll be going into doctors at 8am in morning and demanding to see someone. I don't know how I'm going to cope with 4 children when my partner is due to go back to work on Monday sad

Going to try and stomach some laxatives in morning and hope they work (I feel far to sick at the moment, the thought of dealing a tablet makes my mouth water - in a bad way!)

Really regretting having this op. I know it's only been a week but I'm feeling so sorry for myself xxx

It is very early days and you are going to have to have help when your husband goes back to work. Even if you weren't feeling as bad as this you wouldn't be well enough to cope. Have you any family or friends who can help or is there any possibility your husband could get a sick note? You mustn't lift or drive and rest is very important.

Not having a poo in a weeks time IS an emergency! From a retired RN

It may seem like it but following prolapse surgery in the UK it isn't unfortunately.

please look after yourself. Mow 6 weeks post op, 4 of those on the antibiotics. Having lost a few stitches earlier than normal due to the infection. I am looking after myself NOW, so I can look after my family in the FUTURE   Take all the help that is offered, leave anything that doesn't NEED doing, and ASK for help. I'm not going through my op again, so the sock can stay on the floor until someone else picks it up,

Hi, just wondering how you are? What did docs say.

    Hello,

Saw the doctor, she gave me two lots of antibiotics. im having a really hard time keeping them down.

I got a shower today and whilst I was drying myself, I wiped down below and on the towel was green gunk!

I have my energy back but I think that's because the tramadol has worked its way out of my system.

I don't know what to do xxx

      Hi Laurajadey

You poor thing. Sounds miserable. I know you feel really sick but are you eating something, even a biscuit or cracker, before taking them?

Pharmacists are good at giving advice on the best way to take medicines. Maybe have a chat with them (or get someone to do it for you). My mum's local independent pharmacist even ran special sessions on it.

If you're being sick are you dehydrated? Could be a vicious circle.

I had green gunk for a couple of weeks. It smelt really strong and sometimes vinegary. I didn't go to docs as I didn't have a temperature and it's now gone. I've no idea if that's normal or not but worth knowing?

If you've got an infection you've got the antibiotics so hopefully they work soon.

      Hope you feel better soon.
