hsv 1 is kind of tricky because that is something most people have. Truth be told when i got my results back i wasnt shocked i had hsv 1 due to me having cold sores way before i was even having sex. However you can have hsv 1 gentile herpes but i think its rare. I do know you can get hsv 2 from oral if a person has hsv 1. Still wont know for certain unless you get swabbed.

Just some clarification, HSV1 does not become HSV2.

HSV1 is more commonly known as oral herpes (cold sores) however, the number of genital HSV1 is skyrocketing.

If someone has HSV1 oral, they can transmit it to the genitals through oral sex and vice versa.

HSV2 can also be present orally.

      Type does not dictate location.

how long has it been like that. if it's going unchanged it can def be mc. if it has changes and opens up into an ulcer then possibly hsv

It's mc I had the same thing. It's see not hsv if it's been there that long with no changes.

I had the derm freeze it and honestly it left a mark. It's getting better. I'd suggest u tell them to just cut it out. look at my first post. it looks identical to what u have.

i was told by my doctor and NP that if you have type 1 and give oral that person can get type 2 . I didnt mean literally it turns into another type but you can develop hsv 2 by it.

Well, they must be insanely misinformed.

You can not get HSV2 by receiving oral from someone with HSV1.

Like i said, the type doesnt dictate the location, so if someone with oral HSV1 performs oral, then you can only get genital HSV1.

Same with having genital HSV1, you could give someone oral HSV1 by them performing oral.

Both HSV1 and HSV2 can be present in any location and you can only get the same strand that was carried by the other person.

HSV1 does not become HSV2 just because its in the genitals.

i literally just said it doesnt develop into hsv 2. I also said its a such thing as having hsv 1 genital herpes as well but it is rare from what i kept hearing and reading . i dont get why you are repeating yourself. If you dont think its possible for a person with hsv 1 to give oral to a person and that person ends up having hsv 2 (not from hsv 1 turning into 2 but how the virus itself develops in the host) then okay. No point in repeating everything else that i agreed with .

i repeated what i said because you literally said medical professionals told you someone with could give HSV2 by having HSV1 and performing oral.

If youve been transmitted HSV1, no matter where, you will only test positive for HSV1. The virus doesnt develop into anything but HSV1.

Im not trying to argue, im just passing on the information i know.

HSV1 genital is also very common, its sky rocketing now because of the lack of knowledge (most people dont know you can get it genitally).

The only difference is that HSV1 genital often causes fewer outbreaks because its a less liked environment for that strand.

Doesnt look like one. Given that you have no pain or other symptoms i wouldnt think it is. it also wouldnt last this long.

having herpes doesnt make you dirty or not clean. using words like this just adds to the stigma people face. no sex is safe sex.

your ex could have had hsv1 and never known. the majority of people who have it are asymptomatic. you could got it from receiving oral! have you had a genital outbreak? or just been tested?

unless you have had no other partners or a negative prior to your last partner for herpes and been negative you can never tell!

    and for the comments above

    hsv1 only causes hsv1

    hsv2 only causes hsv2

both can cause oral and genital outbreaks, however hsv2 very rarely affects the oral area. it is also very rare to be a carrier of both strains as the make up of the virus is very similar so antibodies are produced.
