Recommend meds please

Hi all, Late stage 5 here and my bp is still rising. I'm on a few meds and have changed over the years. Recently I was put on 1.25/2.5 then 5mg of bisoprol beta blocker. It is totally knocking me for 6. I have no drive, nothing. Not uncommon for me to watch Tv for over an hour and remember nothing that has just been on. They are turning me into a zombie. I have been on perindropril but was taken off because my potassium level got to 6.2.
Can anyone recommend a decent bp tablet that they have had success with, with minimal side effects

Hi Weeled,
I don't know if you are in the UK, bur here, they favour a cocktail of drugs to control BP, starting with a calcium channel blocker. I could not take these (swollen ankles) so I was prescribed Losartan which my consultant says are kidney protective, bendroflumiazide and moxonidine. These have no noticeable side effects for me and keep my BP at aroung 125/75. It took a while to find a group of drugs that worked for me though. I just kept asking until a good set were found. I hope that you can do the same.

Hi there sorry to hear about your symptoms. I started haemo dialysis in January 17. I take a tablet called Amlodipine and have no side effects apart from a little dizziness. As for absorbing what's on the tv. I'm told this is part of ckd and I suffer this too. Hope this helps 😃

Tough that you are having BP problems. I take Amlodipine, but I am still Stage 4. It does not seem to produce noticeable side effects, and was carefully chosen in consultation with the hospital pharmacist.
Good luck, KenR

Hi,
There are loads for you to try, I think between us myself and mrs O have been on most of them I had the same as you felt awful and zombified and couldn't do anything or they worked but made my potassium go up. The ones that worked for me were moxonodine 200mg and amlodopine 10mg. See if you can give them a go not saying they will work for you as we are all different but they may and they dont make you feel like rubbish, you may feel a little weird with the amlodopine to start but bare with it as it passes once you get used to it. Hope this helps
