Hi. Can anyone with Rectocele share what symptoms they have in terms of discomfort. I'm not having trouble going to the toilet but perhaps because I'm eating a lot of fibre and water. I'm Just about managing a part time office job and minimal walking and housework. I have heavy dragging feeling in vagina most of day but I'm not sure why rectum so uncomfortable, even at night sometimes. I feel like my anal opening is stretched and sometimes a tiny bit of stool leakage is there when I visit the toilet. Would it just be the rectocele giving me all this rectal issues? Apparently just a moderate Rectocele. I've had some months of womens physio which has helped a little but I'm due to have posterior repair but worried about how it will fix the rectal discomfort.

Hi Rosa, poor you! Your symptoms do sound like its rectocele problem - make sure you discuss this with your consultant as mine said he couldn't guarantee any improvement for me in that department! I'm 8wks post op for posterior repair & without alarming you I don't feel as if it's worked yet although I have felt slightly better this last 7-10 days so don't give up hope!!!
If you read these postings you'll realise most of the ladies have been through it & some!
You're obviously eating the right things so keep that going & of course don't forget to do your pelvic floor exercises even now before your operation! Good luck
& have a chat to your consultant. Janet x

Thanks for your reply Janet. Am terrified of the op mainly because there are mixed outcomes on this site. The consultant said I will walk around more comfortably after op. I am hoping that will be the case as at the mo I'm starting to feel that if I am more sedentary, I have a more comfortable day which can't be good. I'm 35 with 2 kids x
