Red Bumps Under Tongue - What is it?

I am an healthy 24 years old men. I do not smoke and never smoked in my entire life and I drink occasionally.

Five days ago, I started feeling a slight tongue discomfort; It felt a little swollen/numb and I could not move it as easily as I am used to. I had the same feeling the next morning but the condition seemed to improve as the day progressed. The next day, I woke up with a minor frenulum pain. I took a flashlight and started examining my under-tongue. I discovered that my frenulum and my duct of salivary gland were really swollen and I had a white spot on my frenulum. Upon further inspection, I realized that I had some irregular red bumps spread under my tongue, on my mouth floor on both sides under my tongue. I also found two of these bumps under my tongue near the frenulum. The next day, the white spot on my frenulum and the pain disappeared. However, I the red bumps are still there and I have a really minor gum pain . They are not painful and do not cause any discomfort. The region around the bumps and the bumps look a little swollen and are redder than the other skin of my mouth floor. I do not know if I had these bumps before since I never bothered inspecting in details the region under my tongue.

Here are some pictures of what it looks like at the moment. The first picture was taken the day when my frenulum had a white spot on it. The other ones were taken today.

My questions are:

1- What are the red bumps? Are they normal?

2- Does it look like herpes (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? Could it be caused by unprotected oral sex?

3- Should I consult even if they aren't painful?

Thank you!

It doesn't seems to be scaring but yes, should ask your doctor. You can ask your dentist in your regular visits.

Hi Mike! My name is Anna. I was curious if you ever found out what this was? Just tonight I noticed the same thing: a little white dot on the frenulum on the underside of my tongue. Hope you're doing well! Hope to hear from you soon.
