I have had many problems with my left leg for months now. I had a flare up of 'cellulitis' more than a year ago and was diagnosed with paniculitis after a biopsy (non venous). Then my legs were fine until 5 months ago when I got a strange black bite/scar/boil type thing. The doctors said to leave it alone and it was fine. But it burst a month ago and after a swab they found it full of staph aureus.
I also developed cellulitis around it. Then, after 2 days on clarithromycin the cellulitis spread to my second leg. Five doctors and four nurses have looked at my legs.
4 weeks of antibiotics later the wound is closing up and shallow now but the cellulitis is the same.
Two of the five doctors I saw think it is not likely to be cellulitis. I am overweight and have thyroid hormone regulating issues due to having not taken my levothyroxine due to it giving me migranes. I have taken it properly for a 3-4 weeks now though.
They say that the redness could be something else, or to do with my thyroid or general edema but since i've been off my antibiotics for 9 days now and it hasn't gotten more red or spread past any lines they don't think it's cellulitis.
I've asked about DVT before too but they don't think that's the case as I don't have any pain or worse reness at the back of my legs.
Honestly I am so confused. Any information would be really helpful, please. What could this be and what should I do? So far I am doing on a diet and regulating my thyroid treatment.
However, I have OCD and I have been scared to touch my legs or my trousers or anything that touches my legs so if I could find out for sure there's no infection anymore it'd be a huge help to my daily life. It's hell not knowing as I don't know when/if it'll heal or what to do for the best.
Thanks.

Hopefully the antibiotics are clearing the infection! It is possible that Hypothyroidism could contribute to cellulitis?
All the best,

My dermatologist has said that it is eczema linked to problems in my veins? But I looked up varicose veins/eczema linked to circulation problems and it was all blisters and nothing like my legs.
