Hi Gillian no although I've had it over 7 years up until 6 weeks ago it never really bothered me so although I've taken tablets for it it obviously wasn't like it is now and as a serious incident happened at work and I immediately handed my notice in,which now means I'm jobless my anxiety is sky high and my main anxiety is health anxiety so it's a vicious circle.

I have similar symptons to yourself, anxiety is the worse trigger for me so as far as I am able I try and keep calm and not keep worring about this, not always easy I know. One thing I am certain of is that I do NOT have cancer as I really think that after all this time (over 2 years) something would have happened to me or it would have shown up during the tests that I have had. I try my best to eat healthy and take my PPIs.
All the best to you and try to stop worrying.

I have tried a number of different PPI's and also different dosage. After the 2 years I am now on Omeprazole 20mg (which is a very light dosage) just once a day or twice if I have a bad day. At the moment this appears to be helping a lot. Personally I think it is the regular build up of taking PPI's that works and when I read that some only take a PPI for a day or so and then stop either because of side effects (which usually stop after a few days) or they stop because they have not instantly been cured.
I also realise that taking PPI's long term is not supposed to be good for us but I would rather this than suffer as I used to suffer.
Hope this helps.

Sames goes for me, I just can't imagine my life without PPIs, I'm 26, otherwise healthy but have hiatal hernia and GERD. I tried every diet but the key is for me to take those drugs and that's it. Tnx for the reply.

Hi when I first started 7 years ago I was on omeprazole and I stayed on them until 2014 when my doctor changed them to lanzrapole due to bad reports on omeprazole. When I went back for my next review he said they weren't suitable with my citalapram so he changed them to ranitidine and that's what I take now.

I know this is difficult to do but stay away from google. Trust in what your doctor says. My partner has just gone through this too. A old guy at the hospital said to me and as gruff and as blunt as he said it I suppose he is right... 'Dont worry there is nothing you or I can do about it. It will either work out or it wont there is no point getting in a stew over something you have no control over. I had this thought process of if I thought some thing was wrong with my partner. It goes like. 1 it can be sorted out with medical treatment. 2 If I thought its cancer there is a 50/50 chance of it actually being that. If It was diagnosed as cancer there is also a 50/50 chance of it being treated. Cancer is a evil disease and it is always on the mind what with the constant exposure within the media I also think there is cancer of the mind too. I know its claimed some of my family. Try to relax (easier said)! Have a good talk to the docs and express your concerns. Hope all is well Austinx

I agree that with all the exposure and all the hype that 1 in 3 of us will get cancer it's enough for us to get Cancer of The Mind. Just try and not take it all too seriously as there is not a lot we can do about it, life is short enough as it is.

Agree on that, but anxious minds are anxious minds, you can't stop worrying. Anxiety is a disease like any other disease. People don't realize that. I also have anxiety because my mum and dad have it and both of my grandpas had it. You are just hardwired to it and you can't help it. It's the same thing as reaching a certain height. It is all coded in your genes and you can shorten or make yourself taller.

Hey Sarah,
Sorry to hear about all the trouble you're going through with reflux. Have you tried digestive supplements? One of the things that really helped me heal from reflux was taking probiotics and HCL. A lot of times, having indigestion can cause reflux. Feel free to check out an article I wrote on reflux home remedies here:

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi thanks for reply I've just been to see doc and she thinks it's anxiety and my citalapram that are causing it.She also wonders why I've been treating acid with ranitidine instead of making the acid stay down,so I'm now taking gaviscon after meals.
