i now have two of my beloved dogs back home and it is wonderful.  All my dogs, four adults and a tiny baby have been staying with a great friend.  I will see how I go with these two and then hopefully have the remaining ones back.

I am so pleased for you.  My 2 persian cats are my little babies so I know how lovely it is to have your beloved pets back home.  Bet they are excited to be with you too. It is so comforting to have animals around. razz

It was so nice to be able to take my dog out for decent walks after THR. Fortunately she's a labrador & is getting on in years and does not pull on the lead. I doubt if I'd have risked it when she was a youngster or I'd have ended up back in hospital!

Hope you have a great time with them.

That is great, we have two dogs and they are part of the family and would miss them if they had to go away.  Actually that is one of my worries about my op.  The youngest one (four and half years old), tends to jump up when excited, the year older dog doesn't.  The younger one also suffers from fear aggression so we couldn't put him in a kennels.  I am worried that he might jump up when I get home from the hospital and knock my hip.

I went to one of my daughter's homes for Christmas Day. She has two Jack Russells, who used to live with me when my daughter was in flats and couldn't have them.

I was worried about greeting them, as they do jump up with excitement. However, they both seemed to sense that they shouldn't do that when I walked outside with the crutches. Both stayed down, waited until I sat and then jumped quite gently to rest their paws on my good leg.

Dogs have pretty good instincts sometimes. Having said that, be careful until you know how they're going to react. Make sure someone is there to calm them when you first see them.

Thankfully, we have no pets that need to be taken for walkies - just our RSPCA rescue cat and our son's rescue parrott - who loves christmas wrapping paper.

They are tiny dogs and the two i have back are elderly and don't need as much excercise/attention as the younger ones so I will be fine with them.
