    I'm a carer as well

    This is my 2nd thr

Consultant told me 12 weeks before I could go back to work because of all the driving lifting bending etc and to be honest it was only just enough after 1st thr so if I need more time this time round I'm going to take it.

Everyone heals at a different rate.

I'm 2 weeks since last operation and to be honest now I've got 2 new hips it does feel a lot better this time - stronger if that makes sense

    Hi Debbie,

Don't rush back, you need to take care of your hip. General advice usually says 6 to 8 weeks for office type jobs, up to 3 months for jobs that require a lot of moving, longer for heavy manual work. I didn't go back properly until 11 weeks, because I teach v young children , and there's lots if bending involved. I would imagine your job is similar. Your doctor should sign you off for as long as you need.

Hi Debbie I went back to work at 2 weeks but no lifting. At a desk or driving. I don't know what you do but you have to go a little easy for a while. I'm at 11 Weeks RTHR and can do almost anything. Still careful about twisting leg or lifting heavy things.

HI Debbie I'm 6 wks post op and I'm still on one crutch although I do walk indoors without anything . I work with Adults with learning difficulties I've not gone back yet as still can't drive . I go back to see my consultant on the 26th October so will no more then. Your proberbly getting the pain from the muscles that you have not used and all the surgery they went through early days as yet although we all heal differently take care hope this helps. smile
