REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????

I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM". The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc". You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up. I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now. I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday. As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens. Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them. It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue. My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

I am so mad beyond belief.
I just found out about this procedure today from a patient. 7/6/17.
He told me about this new procedure called Rezum.
I was curious to the max!!!!
To late for me though.
Last month I had a TURP procedure done.
Can I pee? You betcha!!!! Perfectly like a fireman's hose. In fact, I'm betting I can single handedly turn off a fire with one hand tied behind my back, and the other, holding my c**k and aiming.
However, this procedure, cause retro ejaculation, and I'll never see a cum shot ever again.
I'm furious.
Yes ofcourse I knew the procedure would cause retro, however, it seems that REZUM doesn't?
Had i known this procedure existed, I would have preferred this treatment over turp.
It means alot for me to him. Especially to see my wife swallow!!!
I'm madder than hell.
My suggestion, Try Rezum!!!! It sounds like a winner!!!!!!!!!
I would had, had I known about it.
Good luck Men

The minimally invasive procedures (including rezum, urolift, etc) do have a much lower likelihood of side effects such as retrograde ejaculation, however

My guess is that at least 80% of the TURPs performed were not indicated. Why would anyone opt for an old, invasive surgery as a first line of treatment without trying one or more of the less invasive ones first?

Your wife still swallows? Lucky you 👍
Thanks for the morning laugh on your comments above!

The field is a rapidly evolving one; until a few years ago, we didn't have things like Urolift or Rezum. Many older physicians may still not be aware of them.
TURP still has its place; particularly in men with urinary retention (although I generally offer Rezum first even in that case.)

Most doctor will push what they knowThey don't listen to a mans concern most othe time. They bi pass alot of the information on the side effects to get the patient to have the sugery that they know. It is only a suggestion because you dont' really know if it going to work until you do it. If a doctor tells you Trust me Turn and go the other way Ken

Is there ever a time when it doesn't make sense to try something like Rezum prior to doing a major surgery? And isn't something like Holep a better option than TURP if all else has failed.
There was an article in the WSJ about Rezum - isn't it borderline malpractice for any urologist not to know of it by now?

I had the Rezum procedure done on August 1st 2017. The Uro I used was not my original Uro. I called the Rezum company and asked who they recommend in my zip code and they gave me a name and number of a local Uro to use. So that is what I decided to do as far as picking the doctor.
I was given 2-10 mg Valium and 2-5/325 Percocets 1 hour before procedure. I was also given a rectal prostate black and numbing of the urethra by catheter rpior to Rezum.
The Rezum instrument did not hurt going in, but the steam injections did. They hurt pretty bad, at least the first 3, the 4th I di not feel at all. I had 4 steam injections total.
I am 46 and have delt with weak flow, slow start, split and sparying stream for arounf 20 years of my life. I have been seen and testing with cystoscopes no less then 6 times in those 20 years only to be told...your prostate is too big, your too young for surgery to take meds. I did not do weel with the FlowMax so I just gave up unitol I learned about Rezum.
I left the office, wife drove, with a Foley catheter, no pain at all, no blood at all in urine bag. I wore the bag for 1.5 days and was scheduled to have it pulled out in the office as long as i could pass urine on my own at that time. They filled me with salin water 300mg i think and I peed all of it out and some air and blood at the end of the pee stream. Doctor said looks good and sent me home to Rapaflo and 15 days more anitibiotics.
That night through the weekend I could barley squeeze out a drop of pee, I was very concerned but just tuffed it out through the weekend. By Monday I could pee but it was just a stream of drops and went in to streams or sprayed, it was a mess but still no blood or pain.
Saturday was day 11 post procedure and I noticed in the toilet very small red flesh like floating particle in the toilet after peeing. This progressed to blood urine through Saturday and into now today Monday 8/14. Its not solid blood, its like red colored water that clears out as I pass some pee. My stream is better, but not as good as I was prior to this procedure. I do find it weird that I am just now passing blood, so I have called the uro and left a message but no one has called my back yet.
Know regarding rejo ejaculation or no ejaculation. I waited for I think 6 days post procedure and I had a completely dry run. Which I was very shocked as the doctor and the Rezum website and every video on YouTube said this would not happen. Now it could be the Rapaflo causing this as I read it is a side effect, it could also be an injury issue from the procedure and maybe it will come back once healed or it could I wont be producing anymore kids. Wont know fo sure until I stop the Rapaflo which I was given to take for 30 days.
So at this point 2 weeks tomorrow i am not seeing a benefit at all. Hopefully this will change in the next week or two.
I have read and heard some say their erections improved after this procedure, I have not to this point experienced that, but I am also a bit worried about intercourse due to the weak urine, blood etc. so that may be why I think the opposite. In fact sex does not feel the same since for me. Again this may improve with time and getting off all the meds in a few weeks.
Please share your thoughts experience with Rezum and ask any questions if I can help.

Rapiflo almost always causes dry ejaculations, you won't know your status on that until you stop taking it and its completely out of your system.
Rezum doesn't START helping for 30 days. Most of the improvement comes in weeks 6-12 and you've gotten all the help you're going to get at the 6 month point. Blood in the urine is common - mine peaked at around 3 weeks and was gone by week 5.
There is no way to know what your result will be at this point - but you won't have much of a clue til about 7 weeks post procedure. When you're peeing better, stop taking the rapiflo and you can guage your ejeculations then. Alfusozin works as well for most as Rapiflo with much lower rates of RE. You might try switching for now.
