I went today to have the rezum done at the surgery center. The doctor had me lay on my side and put a probe in my anus. I coun't take the pain. He gave me NO pain medicance and was wondering why I couldn't stay still. I had a very bad experience after three times ,I just couldn't take the pain. He said he would have to admint me to the hospital and have it done. I would have to be knocked out to have it done. I am very worried about the entire prcedure..... Not sure if I will have it done... Has anyone had Rezum done?? If so did the doctor give you medicane for the pain??
Thanks so much. I am 58 years old and just wanted some releif from having to pee all night long.. I didn't like the medicane and it really didn't help me orther than dry ejacklation when having sex.

I never heard of this being done without a local anesthetic. They usually numb the prostate which doesn't make it pain free for most, but bearable enough not to abort. I'd take a strong pain killer and have them numb your prostate and have it done. Most of us have gotten significant relief. FYI the meds don't usually do much - try alfusosin. It's works as well as any of them with a much lower side effect profile

Hello Leon,
I had a rezum done in June. Right BEFORE the rezum he had them do an ultrasound of my prostate which meant they were inserting a probe. They also injected the prostate with pain killer (lidocaine?) at that time, all from the back side.
The actual rezum was done through the penis. Despite the pain killer, it still hurt a lot - HOWEVER, the whole procedure was 5 steam injections of exactly 9 seconds each and it only hurt for about 1/2 of each of the 9 second injections. As soon as the steam stopped, no pain! So painful, but tolerable. Afterwards I left with a script for Oxy which I did not use.
The next 5 1/2 weeks were a roller coaster ride of good & bad but after all the healing, I am doing great and highly endorse the procedure.
Hope this helps!
