had the procedure jan.2019. prostate was 150. ipss was 23. 14 injections. catheter for 3.5 days. slight improvement in stream at 7 to 10 days. noticeable improvement at 2 to 3 months. Leaking and urgency completely gone at 8 months. Ipss score iss now 8 or 9. still get up from 1 to 3 times per night, other than that my ipss would be 5. my last ultrasound of the prostate showed 109. psa went from 29.8 to 19.8 (on finesteride to shrink the prostate). Did a lot of research prior to having this done. google richard levin, chesapeak urology. his discussion convinced me this was the way to go. Am very happy with the results would certainly do again. Will answer all questions. good luck to you all

How long you've been experiencing urgency before surgery?

I had an enlarged prostate and the Urologist would only recommend Rezume because of the size. I chose to have a SRP instead performed by a different Urologist and my prostate contained a micro focus (1mm) of Gleason 6 Prostate Cancer. The rezume procedure would not have provided any prostate tissue for examination.

my initial psa was around 23 up from 16 four years earlier. i had a biopsy of the prostate which was negative, bone scan and mri also negative. psa went up to 30 and my ipss was 23. After rezum jan 31, 2019 my psa went to 19.8 about a 30 percent reduction, my last ultrasound showed 109 prostate down from 150 plus. I followed up the rezum procedure with another mri which said cancer was extremely unlikely. My elevated psa is from a large prostate, for now. am taking finesteride which is shrinking the prostate, another ultrasound in 3 months. I heard from richard levin, (rezum clinical trials) that rezum was to become a treatment for cancer, obviously with a different delivery method since the cancer is on the outer part of the prostate. They could target the cancer, inject steam which would stay in the outer layer of the prostate and literally ablate the cancer cells. A promising alternative instead of prostate removal. I like that my urologist took the time to eliminate the likelyhood of cancer. and once it was more or less ruled out, I opted for symptom relief. My psa was up to 26 (then finesteride) and the latest one 2 weeks ago was 19.8. BPH affects men a little at a time, you know things are getting worse but not sure what to do about it. I did a lot of research before settling on rezum for symptom relief.
