I was not going to start BLOG for my right eye, but i am!

Had left eye set for -1.50 intermediate distance on 8/15. Right was set for distance 9/27. Distance is great! I now have monovision. My very close is not good, but i expected that. i got some readers for close but it us making my head " spin " when used for closer work, my computer range is fair, but i cant visually handle the transition between intermediate and close readers. any suggestion? OR IS it too soon ? I am back to work on my computer

You can't use over-the-counter readers. You need a different prescription for each eye because the lens in each of your eyes is set to a separate distance. The readers probably help your left, intermediate eye see up close, but they are wrong for the distance eye. Nowadays we can get pretty cheap glasses so if the prescription changes over time, you can get new glasses, but you have to function in the meantime which means getting glasses with a prescription that helps you see now. I had only one eye done so far, set for intermediate, and now I have a different prescription for each eye. I also have three pairs of prescription glasses, one for closeup, one for the computer, and one for distance/driving. I hope that totally non-scientific opinion helps.

Do you have to carry all 3 pairs with you?Would progressives eliminate a pair?

LOL - all opinions count here Vic!

I would have to get progressives with 3 different distances, and I know that would drive me nuts. I don't carry all three everywhere. My intermediate replacement lens gives me a lot of flexibility. I can read without glasses where I have to (labels, maps, etc, smart phone). I can see distances fine just walking around. When at the computer, or cooking, I usually wear the intermediate glasses. I can see TV better with the distance glasses. I have a pair of distance/driving glasses in the car. I'll have to get all new glasses when I get the lens replaced in the other eye, but for now I am holding out.

what type of lens are you considering for the other eye.

Before surgery on the right,my left at intermediate was fine, I took the left lens out of my glasses, and everything was perfect. Right eye surgery on 9/27, the distance was great. My brain took to monovision! when back to work yesterday, computer screen was ok, but the constant eye shifting from one screen to another was too much. i really felt the eye strain.

FOLLOWING THIS THREAD. SO I HAVE RIGHT WITH SYMPHONY LENS AND LEFT EYE MULITFOCAL ADD3.25. I AM HAVING BIG ISSUES WITH THE DESPARITY BETWEEN THE EYES AND I AM 18 months out. I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH UP CLOSE WITH THE SHMPHONY LENS I CAN READ ANYTHING EVEN AT ARMS LENGTH. I HAVE CONTEMPLATED GETTING PRK IN THE WITH THE SYMPHONY LENS SO I CAN FUNCTION IN MY FAST PACED WORLD I LIVE IN. FEELS AS IM OUT OF FOCUS ALL DAY, unless im justboutside looking at far distance. MY ONLY RESERVATION TO HAVING PRK IN SYHMPHONY EYE IS THAT I WILL LOSE SOME OF MY DISTANCE. I THINK ALL I NEED IS +.50 in that eye to help. i know it sounds small but makes a huge difference on my vision in the world up close around me. any thoughts on this?

    anyone?

Hi George - I assume by your comments the multifocal with add 3.25 isn't providing enough or better near vision than the Symfony? I also assume Symfony was targeted for best distance - do you know or can you provide us on forums what your current prescription is?

Having PRK on Symfony eye to provide better near vision likely would take away from distance. A trifocal IOL would have provided better vision all 3 distances. Did the surgeon know your desire to see near? Wonder why he didn't suggest a trifocal for that eye. Although more trauma to the eye you could consider an exchange. They normally like to do exchanges within 6 months but if you have not had a yag it still can be done.

With type of lenses you have there shouldn't be much disparity between your eyes (assuming both are technis lenses). Is it the size of the lettering that is bothersome? Although nice to be glasses free wouldn't it be easier to wear readers for closer reading or work? Or is your vision not blending and causing other issues (you mention things seem out of focus - except distance.)

    had to shared my weird morning. Yesterday i had eye pain , like something was in my eye. I scheduled an appointment this morning. The doctor found a tiny piece of fabric wrapped around by eyelash, and rubbing the cornea. Removed it , instant relief! ( right eye}

Mutti3 any more updates? What is your latest status?

...computer screen was ok, but the constant eye shifting from one screen to another was too much. i really felt the eye strain.

You have multiple screens or you mean shifting from screen to paper work?

Had left eye set for -1.50 intermediate distance on 8/15. Right was set for distance 9/27. Distance is great!

Is your eye really at -1.50? I mean was it measured recently?

Do you have the actual measurement for your far distance eye?

I think your brain needs time to adapt probably.
