I still found that I could have sugar. I never tried sweetener but everyone is different. Hope you have surgery scheduled soon, I'm a week post op and although I have been sore from the op it's the best thing I ever did.

So far it's been a positive experience, I am so pleased to be rid of that pain and feeling so ill, I've been sore and achy since but it's nothing like an attack!! I did use paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine for the first 2 days then gradually got it down to nothing. I'm sore tonight but I saw my 10 month old nephew and went out for the first time so I think I over did it a bit, you really do have to listen to your body as it soon lets you know if you've done too much or reached too high.
Do you have to go in for a pre op? If you do maybe ask then what they recommend about sugar or sweetener, luckily it never effected me I think it was the high sugar contents that actually kept me going before the op. X
