Scar tissue after TURP surgery.

After 7 months of having TURP surgery I continue with the same problems I had before: Burning while urinating 24/7, getting up 3 or more times at night, urgency to pee. Now my doctor says I developed scar tissue and wants to do a second surgery. He calls this surgery laser incision of bladder neck contracture and Mitomycin injection.  Any help is appreciated.

Wow, I'm in the same boat as you.  I had TURP in February and several months later my ability to urinate became harder and harder. Finally my Uro told me I developed a stricture near the bladder neck prostate

area. I have been dilated but it seems not working too. I also am CICing 4 to 5 times a day too. All this and no improvement. He wants to scope me next week to,see exactly what's happening he is talking surgery but I'm not agreeable. Must look at all options any thoughts. I'll ask him about laser and the Mitomycin. I read about Mitomycin on another post too. You have the ability to void so why surgery?

    Eddie,

Mitomycin C is effective in inhibiting the reformation of scar tissue after a procedure.  I learned that while being examined by a specialist in California for my own problem, which is incontinence due to strictures of in the area of the sphincter and the bulbous urethra.  Mitomycin C, which is also commonly used with cancer surgery to inhibit cell growth, is apparently only effective for strictures in the bladder mouth area.
