I totally understand, I'm still dealing with it myself. I found out in April that I have it. And I'm married, sex is totally out for me right now because I don't want to pass it to my husband. Educate yourself, it will help some. I've found talking about it and crying to my husband makes me feel a little better. It's not a death sentence we can't die from this we just have to be careful and become comfortable with it. I've never had an outbreak but I'm scared that I will one day

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Most people use condoms with a daily med. And that cuts the transmission rate to 1 or 2%. But my doctor has me on nothing right now, I tried valtrex but I'm allergic. Since I've never had an outbreak i don't take anything. Me and my husband haven't used condoms in years. I count on one hand how many times we have used them in the past. Once a week we basically have a make out session, which is fun. I just don't let him touch me down below.

      Hi Dana

Im a new case. My dr also told me no need for long term valtrex and no need for condom.

I didnt have sex after diagnosis yet.

      When was your first OB?

You mean you do sex in last years with no valtrex and no condom?

And your husband is ok with no herpes till now?

Me and my husband have been together since 1994. Back in 2013 I was raped, I had to open up about in April when my test results came back positive for hsv2. Didn't want to but I had to, still dealing with that on top of my test results. My husband is negative and our doctor told us the same thing no need for condom as long as I'm not having a outbreak. The thing is I've never ever have had a outbreak. My doctor had prescribed me valtrex and I started taking it cause I thought I was having an outbreak. I guess by reading and looking at the pictures online I started seeing things that wasn't there. I took the valtrex for 3 days then a horrible rash appeared on my neck. So I went back to the doctor she checked me out and told me I wasn't having an outbreak, I just paranoid about it all.
