ive been prescribed fluoxetine, but won't be starting for a week. ( payday) . I already have insomnia and restless legs and am afraid this will make it worse. Can anyone shed some light on these possible side effects?

Hi I started a couple years ago taking half a pill every day but over a month ago I had a meltdown and it started to get worse I spoke to my psychiatrist and she told me to start taking one every day after starting it didn't get much better for a week or so but I was on a low dosage before so it was like I was starting to take it only then I had bad side effects and every day felt like forever all I wanted to do was sleep I went home and didn't go to school for 2 weeks after the second week my parents said it was time to go back when I went back the first week was fine but then after my first week back the dizziness started to come back ( that's how my anxiety come out ) so I called my psychiatrist and she told me to start taking a pill and a half every day I started to feel better and a week later she told me it was preparation for taking 2 pills I've been on 2 pills for about a week maybe less and thank God I've been feeling much better alot of people say it can take months to get in to your system and it can take atleast 10 days but when u start to get better it's worth it

Before I started fluoxetine my sleep was awful. When I started fluoxetine I at first experienced some drowsiness but after a few weeks this wore off and I'd probably say one of the best effects I've had from this medication is on my sleep, I've never slept so well in my life! Obviously it differs for everyone but that's my experience. I also have extreme restless legs which hasn't really changed but definitely hasn't got any worse. I really hope everything works out for you, good luck smile

I have been on flux for nearly 3 weeks and I'm still waking very early.. Take my pill in the morning.I hope this sorts out soon, the days are so long and difficult. I don't have much issue getting to sleep though

You should take it at night that's what my psychiatrist told me to do

I took it at mid day today, so I'll see how I go tonight then I might take it in the evening.. I've seen and felt some brief moments of improvement today to be honest 😊

The more you overthink it the more you put these ideas about side effects into your head. Just let it be, take it every morning, and stay positive. You can do it!

Thanks for the help and advice. I may go tomorrow and start then. Depends on the cost. I'll keep you posted.
