Scheduled for my fourth TURP IN 2.5 hrs

Posted , 10 users are following.

Since 2005 I've had three TURPS and one PVP by separate uros.

This uro has done lots of procedures, is highly regarded by members of the medical field especially by nurses, and aides.

At the ER he correctly irrigated extracting multiple clots until achieving a clear line.

He explained I will definetely be left with RE, however my libido and erections will not be affected.

We covered: TUNA, Urolift, and others.

Why have you already had essentially 4 TURPS?

    How large is your prostate?

Why are you bleeding? Did they rule out a tumor in your bladder, kidneys, or ureter tubes?

Are you a candidate for Aquablation?

    Hi.

I'm a little confused. I assume by the third TURP that you already had  RE? So why would your doctor tell you that you would be left with RE after the fourth TURP? Or am I reading this wrong. Like JerseyDoc, I wonder why you needed three (now 4) TURPS since 2005. Seems excessive. Were you given an explanation?

Just read about the clot thing. Like Jersey Doc said, it could be something else. Sometimes a doc might reflexively want to do a TURP, regardless of experience and reputation. I would consider a second opinion or at least ask for more tests and/or options. Sometimes it's hard to remember especially when you're in the hospital, but you are the boss.

You did not mention your age group but you seem to have a great reputation for TURP despite the fact that they did not endure and with all the recovery problems they present. Is it not time to move on to another procedure?

Hi. I'm surprised by the four TURPs as only one is normally needed. Do you know why it was four? If the prostate is/was large then TURP is not normally the best procedure. I had a HoLEP which bled slightly for a few weeks when peeing but never had any clots or irrigation after Day 1. I don't expect a need to repeat the procedure for many years if ever but the uro did say the prostate does continue to grow and cancer is always possible on the reaming shell

I'm sorry but this does not sound right.  A Turp if it is done right should last 10 year.  These doctors saw you coming.  I don't know if it to late but cancel and get a different doctor. How much can they cut out.  Ken

Not only does it not sound right but Sansrx has not responded to a single reply. Therefore we have to assume that his post is a hoax or a bad joke.

That can be true or he had the 4th Turp  ( Which is Crap and that Doctor needs help ) And he is in so much pain he can't get to the computer.  No one should be put through that.  2 would be enough.  Have a great day.  We will see  Ken
