Sciatica pain in knee and outside of leg

I am 16 weeks post THR and am having regular discomfort in the operated leg. I am having difficulty walking freely due to the discomfort. I also had a torn Gluteous Minimus tendon which was repaired. Yesterday I had a massage and she said this is normal in the healing process.
I went to my doctor and he is pleased with my progress. I want to start running my dogs in agility but he says no. I also am having problems doing stairs with my operated leg leading. Has anyone else had this happen and did it totally go away?

Wow at 16 weeks you are hoping to do agility with your dogs, I don't think so, you have just put a prosthesis in your hip socket, this is a pretty hefty piece of kit and your pelvic cup needs to get aquainted with it, exercise it by all means but the last thing you need to be doing is running your dogs, think about the sudden turns and bending to let them know how good they are. I know because I have done it with a good hip :-) concentrated on getting completely over this and then you want cause yourself an unwanted injury that could put you right back.
Other than wanting to run (literally) before you can walk how you doing

Im sure someone else will be able to give you more advice but I'm glad you have found the site to, its amazing with a wealth of info and advice, 99.9% good LOL if you press into buttock at root of pain does it ease it, hard pressure can often ease it. Its like acupressure and helps break down the tight muscles

I had a Gluteus Medius tendon repair 5 weeks ago, so I'll be watching this thread! Where exactly is your pain, does it hurt all the time or only when using the muscles, and what kind of pain is it?

I really don't have pain in that area now. Originally I had pain in the back side of the Gluteous. Sometimes i got sharp pain but it all calmed down. I am weak going up stairs and when i first get up I am very unstable in my first steps. Now I think in the healing process my sciatica is kicking in.
