    Hi June,

This must be awful for you.  Have you read through some of the other discussions in this section?  I imagine there have been a lot of people here before you who have got it worked out and can advise on what to eat and what to avoid.  You might find some good tips and it'll save you waiting for replies!

My tip is to eat natural (live) yoghurt to replace the good bacteria that the antibiotics will have stripped away.  If you've had loads of antibiotics your gut will struggle for a long time until you manage to replace the good stuff.

    Good luck

Yes Madeline you are so right I've been able to even eat things I couldn't before. You can also get here in Spain a yogurt called bifidus it has pear in it.

Hi June, I had a bad flare up around three weeks ago gots antibiotics. I was OK for a few days and it started up again, I a currently living in Spain but home is the UK. I went back to the pharmacy and they suggested amoxycillan and bifidus this is granuals you put on your tounge and let them melt ( no water) just the granuals. This really worked for me and have been really good for the last couple of weeks.

I think Elizabeth is saying it's the name of an actual product in Spain.  Bifidus is the name of one of the many hundreds of types of bacteria found in the gut and from the granules described I guess it's been produced as an easy-to-take form of probiotics.  If you read the labels of most good natural yoghurts and probiotic drinks they should list the different 'friendly' strains of bacteia that they contain.  It's probably best to find something that has a variety of these good guys - there are usually 4 or 5 different names on the labels - often including bifidus.  Check the labels - and check on line if you're not sure!

When the antibiotic kills the bacteria Bifidus helps the good bacteria in your gut.
