Second time on Fluoxetine (any others?)

I'm just wondering, how many of you have been on Fluoxetine more than once?

This is my second time taking it, and the side effects are pretty extreme (a lot of nausea, raised anxiety and vomiting).

When I took it years ago, it didn't affect me like this.

Has anyone had a similar experience taking Fluoxetine for a second time? I could really use some reassurance that it will get better.

Your 'side effects' are the standard ones for starting on Flu, I'm afraid. If you didn't get them the first time, well, lucky you!

Taking Flu a second time is the same as taking it for the first time - which is why I have no intention of ever coming off it only to find I still need it and having to go through all those 'side effects' again.

Good luck and as happy a new year as you can manage.

I was pretty fortunate to not have the side effects the first time I took it, I did have some slight nausea when they upped my dosage.

I had to come off it over a year ago due to a severe bout of depression that the fluoxetine didn't seem to help with.

I've started taking it since the 8th December, it's been 3 weeks so far, with some moments of improvement, followed by very, very rough days. My appetite keeps fluctuating due to the nausea and vomiting.

I'm just hoping this clears up within the next few weeks, i'm so tired and fed up.

Yes, and this time has been awful with anxiety, and feel as if I have a virus. Today is my first day out of the bed in a month. I had tried numerous other anti depressants starting in May and they were even worse.  Finally I convinced my dr to let me go to Fluxotine since it worked before.  I started at 5 for two weeks and now in to 10 for over two weeks. I will go to 20 the next time I see him. Today is the first day I have been able to do anything. I take something for anxiety as needed , and it helps but only slightly.

At first I went to my family dr but switched to a psych dr at a local medical university. He didn’t want to put me on Fluoxtine because I was eating so little . I had gone from 138 lb to 113 lb because of some gallbladder issues   I still don’t eat a lot , but I do enough.

As I said, today is my first good day. I’ll keep you posted.

    Stay wit it.

I'm really sorry to hear that, I was put on 20mg straight away, and I saw some slight improvement in the first week, but suddenly the nausea and anxiety got worse. I've lost some weight being on fluoxetine for these past few weeks, due to lack of appetite, I still eat meals (just slightly smaller portions). But I'm hoping progress is made soon. I plan to see my doctor on tuesday, as I am rather concerned. The side effects are interfering with my work life.
