Hi!
Well right TKR op today & I was dreading it and almost cancelled it, especially when I had to have a large molar extracted a week ago today, plus the hospital rang me last Thursday yo say that I had a urine infection and to get antibiotics🙁
I really didn't want a spinal block as I didn't want to hear or see anything but the anaesthetist "sold it" to me but it was fine & I recovered really quickly with no sickness, grogginess etc only a bit of an itchy rash, but despite intravenous paracetamol an hour ago I am now in agony🙁😬 Will have to call for nurse but trying to distract myself as morphine makes me ill!
Apparently out of bed tomorrow! Dread it but at least this very tight bandage will be taken off!
In October 2014 I joined this site & you all got me through it, but it is one awful journey😞

Now Wednesday & I feel much better as yesterday I felt terrible and teary too😭but as you'll have probably read on my replies to other folks, after a sleep and tubes were removed I perked up and today I ate my breakfast while sitting in a chair instead of the bed!
I bought a pick up stick as you can't bend down, steps for my back door as its a long drop down, a pair of walking sticks, a raised loo seat as its a long drop with a manky leg, and a long shoe horn which is also a back scratcher-don't know why but it only cost a £ so I bought it! I also have a proper ice pack thing that you strap on your knee and it's bliss! (Got it from EBay! With regards to hospital I remembered to take wide leg track suit bottoms and clothes that are easy to put on as its bad enough trying to your pants on let alone those tight compression socks when you get back home!
This time the hospital is trying to get my painkiller dose right which really is important as you'll read on this site and the mantra really is meds, exercise, rest, ice and elevate and be patient as it takes a good while to realise that it was all worth it-7-9months with my first TKR!
PS I get food delivered & a friend is going to hoover up etc as you can't do that so try and sort something out if you live on your own.
