Hi Laura. I'm 59 and this has been my worst year ever postmenopausal. I had my last period in 2010. I had symptoms here and there. But this year I've had acne, severe depression, no appetite (lost 20 pounds), nightmares, headaches. I'm burned out at my job. I had a meltdown in my Supervisor's office. They put me on FMLA leave for 30 days. I'm supposed to go back January 2, 2019. I'm no where close to being ready to return. I spent the day in bed crying. I haven't cried in a while so maybe I needed to.

The only I can tell you is to pray and hang on. Everyone is different. Apparently my hormones are finally bottoming out. I hope they will level out soon.

yep, same here.. I try not to be vain but it’s so hard when you don’t feel like you look good, or feel like you don’t look as good as you used to or even want to anyway. We feel bad enough as is, And to look in the mirror and that they could to and to look in the mirror and not like what you see is very difficult. I feel for you! you are not alone!! hugs!!

    Hi Laura,

I completely understand where you are. I look in the mirror and see my grandmother staring back at me. I have a lot of days where I feel just like you do.

Have you tried adding one pleasurable self care element to your day? I got a water flosser. It makes my mouth feel so clean I smile more. Sounds stupid, I know. But that ritual then is more likely to make me put on a little moisturizer so my skin is more comfortable. Then I am more likely to get up to bed a little earlier to get to the flosser and moisturizer. So maybe I get some REM sleep....

I am telling myself at least that the little routines have a larger, cumulative effect. I still look like my 85 year old grandmother some days. But I know I have a more loving routine for myself than she did.

    We love you!
