It can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for antidepressants to work and your body needs time to get used to any effects it may or may not cause. Give it a bit longer, don't stop taking them without consulting with your doctor.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Kate.

    Hi Sophie,

I had all of these symptoms plus a lot more, wieght gain, extreme fatigue, high blood pressure, I was on 50 mg to start, then 100mg, then 150mg, my depression was worse than before, so last month I told my GP I wanted to stop taking them, I have now stopped after decreasing by 50mgs a week, I feel better, my bp has gone down (which means I need'nt have been put on bp meds which I now have to take for life!) I sleep better, so all I can say is like me persevere for a few months see how you go, but if like me after 18 months you still don't feel better come off them,

    hope you feel better soon,

    Love ,Lynne.

Hi Lynne, I've been on Citalopram now for 9 months, I have had some good times on them but the last 2-3 months I've steadily got worse again, would u recommend I stick on them (for 18 months like u did) or see Dr and ask for a change of meds?.... Thank you Lynne

I would definitely recommend you see the Dr and ask for a change, I'm so glad I'm off them, hope you feel better soon.

      Hugs

      Lynne
