Servere leg cramps

Hi Guys,

Im new to the forum so apologies if this question has already been raised,im a 48 year old post menopausal woman having had a full hysterectomy when I was 43,ive been on Fluoxetine for 3 months now,ive been doing great on 20mg a day, the reason I was put on them was to help with my menopausal symptoms as my HRT isnt doing the best job and these have been an added bonus, like I say ive been feeling great but have for the last 3 weeks started to suffer really severe cramps from my buttocks right down to my feet, there isnt any peticular time this happens it comes on any time of the day wether im resting walking and even happens when im driving so im getting a little concerned, they dont last long but they are starting to interfere with my normal everyday life, more so its frightening me that im getting them while driving,I dont really want to come off them but if it is these causing these cramps then I may well have to,my doctor isnt that helpful so thought I would ask people with any experience of this first hand beofore I discuss this with my doctor,Im only presuming its these tablets causing this as its only started while Ive been taking them.Any information would be fab from anyone, ive trawled the internet looking for answers but cant find much, thanks in advance

hi julie im doing really well on them and dont appear to be having any side effects, may be a different story when I do decide to come off them,I just really need to know if these cramps are a side effect because if they are not it could be something else.

Thanks for the reply Sharon,im glad its not all in my head lol, what worries me is getting the cramps when im driving and walking, I can handle them when im laid down but they are slighlty different in that I get the pain and sensation but my muscles dont go hard if that makes senses, anyway be sure to let me know how you get on.

I also suffer wit RLS quite bad but I had this before I started taking these so I know its not down to them,I think its one of the worst things you can have and the only thing I have found that relives it is Piriton Antihistamine,if I take 1 at bedtime I dont suffer and have quite a restful sleep, by the way the cramps I get are mainly during the day dont seem to suffer at nightime.

      xx

just thought I would let you all know turns out the cramps are nothing to do with Fluoextine, ive just been diagnosed with PAD periphial artery disease due to my blood pressure being through the roof so nothing to do with the tablets.x
