Setback with soft tissue issues

Hi all: Just thought I would update my situation. I am now 12 weeks post op but having a lot of back pain, pain in both hips and legs plus headaches. This was rough as after last week, when I went on a great hike, I thought I was at the breakthrough stage.

Anyway, after much pain, worry and discomfort, I went to Emergency and luckily my own M.D. was the physician on site.

My x rays are fine. He thinks I have some issues with soft tissue related to misalignment of my hips and my body's over compensation by my right side muscles and tendons, now causing pain and inflammation of both hips, legs and hips. So, I have a prescription for pain meds Tramadone, advised to rest for a few days and then get back to exercising and healing.

I have set up an appointment with the Orthpaedic surgeon for Thursday.

For other hippies, I am echoing Maloo's advice not to overdo it.

Also, if you think something is not right in your recovery, go see the Orthopaedic surgeon or your M.D.

Hi Kathy .Im back to work .Had my job eval yesterday which annoyed me because despite all the things I did to go out of my way this year I only got a satisfactory.Im telling you in the US they expect blood. She cited the Family issues ,which was my husband heart attack with triple by pass, and my health issues with my knee and hip. Then she is not wanting to allow our helpers to set up the tables in the large room we have our weekly workshop .I asked that the assistance continue and she pointed out that my return to work paper said no restrictions other than the walker.I pointed out its hard to push tables and chairs behind a walker and that when it was discussed with the Doctor that it was with the thought that the room would be set up as it had been done previously.Really got me mad.I think the helper setting up the tables is reasonable

Hi Msky. Thanks for the update. Your boss sounds like a real..He/She definitely does not understand and is being unreasonable. Don't worry about her relating you Satisfactory. You know that you do Outstanding work and have gone all out even through your husbands heart attack and surgery plus your own hip and knee issues. Is there an HR Dept? Or any way you can get your doctor to write a document to submit stating the restrictions and adaptations like the helpers setting up the tables for the workshop- maybe stating, 'no pushing furniture or lifting any objects over x lbs. until further notice. To be re-evaluated in 3 months' You could have a physio or Occupational Therapist do a Functional assessment stating  what you can and can't do attached to a doctors letter. Unfortunately, I guess you may not have Health benefits or would have to pay for these services. So sorry hon. I know you may not have options beyond this person. Hope you at least have a supportive colleague there.

we are all there for you.

Thank you Cathy.I think she and my helper are at odds and Im getting caught in the crossfire.Im sticking up for myself .I have to be a diplomat though.I only have 4 1/2 years to retire and she has the power to hurt me.I don't want to give her reason to.I hate to say that but people can be vindictive.

I hear you Msky. You have to advocate for yourself but protect yourself at the same time. I know you can't jeopardize your retirement and the income you need.

Hi Cathy, I'm nearly at the 6 week stage and am still getting a lot of pain in my operated hip. the pain is mainly in my calf and ankle. I'm still on a lot of pain killers. I was wondering when the pain will subside and  is it normal. I do hope you soon feel better.

Hi Valerie. Sorry that you are having the pain in your calf and ankle. I did have calf pain too. I think this is 'normal' as there seems to pain in various parts of the body protesting. Hope the pain killers give you some relief. I am still having pain in various areas so everyone is different but take it all in perspective as others hippies do give us reassurance that pain subsides and normal does return for each person at different times.

      take Care,

      Cathy
