Should I retest?

Over a year ago, I was sexually active with my boyfriend at the time (unprotected oral a few times and protected sex once). That was the first and only person that I have been sexual with, but he has had mutiple sex partners. According to him he is completely STD free and has never had any issues, and he had an std panel done right before the onset of our relationship. A few months after dating him, I got what I thought was a terrible yeast infection. I had no lesions or sores, just an insane amount of itching and a chunky white discharge. I let the infection run it's course, I began noticing that I would itch down there right before my period. 9 months after being sexually active, I developed another bad yeast infection and went to the doctor to get a full std panel. They gave me an IGG HSV test (both types), and while I tested negative, the IGM was slightly positive (I got tested 9 months after possible exposure). My doctor did also detect yeast and clue cells. My primary care physician assured me and continues to reassure me that I do not have genital HSV and not to get retested, but my OBGYN told me that it is very likely that I do have it. I don't know what to think or who to believe, or if I should even get retested. I continue to have similar infections to my previous ones monthly, but they have not been severe since I switched to a soap for sensitive skin.
Note: With one of my 'yeast' infections, I developed what looked like a very small cut. It just loooked like my skin was really irritated, could that be herpes?

No ma'am it doesn't sound like hsv. The one thing to avoid is an igm test because it's unreliable and not recommended. The igm doesn't distinguish between viruses and can pick up any strain like chicken pox for example...that's just one reason it isn't recommended. The igg is your best bet and at 9 months post exposure with no common symptoms other than those that easily could have been a yeast infection things sound good to me.

Ignore the IgM results, as that test for herpes is unreliable, and only look at your IgG results. If negative many months after your suspected incident, then you're negative. Sounds like you just have yeast and maybe BV (as indicated by clue cells, but BV can sometimes self-resolve).
