Side Effects or Just Me

Been on 20mg of Fluxoetine for 30 days for depression/anxiety. Doctore just moved me up tp 30mg a day, but I'm feeling pretty awful. Really bad headaches and nauseau. Feel like my brain is foggy and not even sure how I'm functioning. Is this normal and when does it go away? Or does this mean this drug is not for me? Any help...

Definitely just you, Elisa - along with everybody else starting out on Flu or increasing their dosage.

Who can say if thhe drug is for you? I guess only time will tell - and at thirty days you are about half way through a typical getting started on Flu hell. The period varies but at the end of a couple of months you should be able to assess your situatuation. I think an increase may extend the period a bit - but there are no rules for how long it takes.

I commited to a six month trial period before my GP would prescribe - and that trial ended a good while back now. Couple of years? Two reasons I wouldn't come off Flu - I feel so damned good on it why would I stop and also I'd be scared of coming off only to find I needed to get back on - and have all the start-up symptoms again. I think having a baby would be preferable - and I'm a man!

Agree with Carl.  Every time you increase meds you will get side effects again - its normal.  Give it time to settle - it does get better.  Give yourself months on these meds - everyone is different.

Increasing doesn't take away the side effects either - whatever dose you're on you'll feel the same.  Just go with the flow, accept you'll feel unwell for a while yet, give yourself lots of patience and perseverance.

Go back to your doctor, you might not be suited to these tablets not everyone is he may try something else, but also look for alternative ways of dealing with your problems as they all have side effects long term.
