Side effects with ranitidine

I only took ranitidine for three days in the morning only. 150mg. I got a few little dizzy spells yesterday and thought nothing of it. On day 3 I woke up jittery. Had a few dizzy spells today too. As well as it feels like my heart rate is going faster. I also have a sore throat today too. I was on Omeprazole 40mg for two weeks, made me super nauseous and lost my appetite. Went off pills for 4 days and felt fine on days 3/4. Started on ranitidine and was fine the first day, a little dizzy the 2nd day and now jittery, dizzy and heart kinda racing the third day. Anyone else ever have these issues. Don’t think I’ll take a pill tomorrow! This is nuts. I have two little stomach erosions and that’s why my doctor has me on the meds, which don’t help out with my burning chest pains at all! Seems like when I’m off meds I feel better in every which way. But am scared that no meds my erosions won’t heal up. My GI doc isn’t much help at all. Just keeps switching pills on me. Which so far this is the 3rd med and all had negative horrible side effects so far. Wonder if there’s any natural ways of getting rid of my stomach erosions? I’m eating low fat low carb foods. Lots of veggies and lean meats. Nothing acidic at all and still suffering. The most annoying part is the horrible chest pains around my esophagus area. It’s pretty bad. And I did have an upper gi endoscopy and they said my esophagus is just fine. Hard to believe I can have so much chest pain over two tiny stomach erosions.

Hello I saw your problem today regarding ranitidine and thank you as I took one tablet at 300mg!! Saw consultant yesterday who recommended this dosage ( the consultant was much to be desired, no socks, scruffy shoes and a tank top big enough for six people) appearance makes a lot of difference I think. Anyway I have woken up feeling dizzy and nauseous. During my consultation yesterday the consultant mentioned an operation but then declined by saying I was TOO OLD for the operation. He never looked at me once and never gave a any reassurance.  I have been on lanzoprozal, renitidine 150mg with no success. I’ve had two endoscopes which shows very bad scarring on my osophagus, which like you should get better with medication. He did however recommend a tube down my nose to my stomach for 24 hours to measure the ph balance. I am going to GP to ask for a second opinion to another hospital. See how I get on.

Good luck with everything. Hope you get some relief soon! These pills are all just horrible and riddled with side effects. I have an appointment next week with a different GI specialist so hopefully they can get me feeling better. Keep me posted as to how you’re doing with this. Sounds like we’re both getting some crappy advice from not so good doctors.

Thanks for your kind reply. I do hope you are successful in your future appointment. I just want to get someone who knows what you are talking about. There must be someone. Take care Trisha and please let me know how you get on. Nice to have someone to talk to about the same thing as you and understands the frustration you are going through.
