Silly Question

Hi all, I was just wondering when you get woken up after the operation does it feel like you have been asleep a long time or does it feel like seconds? I'm having my op in April & haven't had a big op before.

Being a bit of an expert iv had all my ops done under GA and when you finally wake up properly as its quite groggy it does actually only feel like seconds have gone by. This op is going to be under spinal and sedation and i dont know how that will feel yet haha.

    When is your op? X

Ohh id be heartbroken. Im getting nervous because i know the doctors are striking again soon so hoping that doesnt effect us xx

We should be okay, I think the next strike is towards the end of April.

I just think I've been really unlucky with all my cancellations, that many doesn't normally happen.

I've been chillin on this forum for 10 months now and I've seen a lot of people come and go, finally finally I think it's my turn, I don't think I'll get cancelled again. I'm having a bilateral so if I get cancelled that's the surgeons whole morning up the creek. So fingers crossed for both of us 👍🏻 x

Aww well i hope we both get sorted and that the strike doesnt effect us haha. But if i was you i would have put in a complaint by now.

The only reason they had issues rescheduling me is because they had to reorder the specilist equipment needed for my surgery and the fact its an all day surgery kinda makes it harder hahaha. Im just a difficult person habaha xxx

I know Sarah, I also saw the X-ray of yr hip 😟 Do you know how many hours it will take? X

I know very little about my op. My surgeons secitery was the one to tell me qbout the equipment and stuff. Im gonna guess it will be about 6/8 hours+ but thats just ne guessing.

And i wouldnt even say i have a hip tbh haha xx

Bless yr heart Sarah. I will be travelling down to London on the 11th April and my thoughts will be with you. X

No I live in Lincolnshire which is about 3 1/2 hour drive from London. X

I picked the surgeon in London because he does the anterior approach but it turns out I can't have it done that way because both of my hips are too imbedded into pelvis and he needs more room to get in there and sort it out. X

Ahh i see. In wishing you the best if luck. Is this your first op?

Im not sure whwt the approaches are but i doubt they apply to me anyway. Xx

My op took 45 mins :-) trhr they really don't take that long at all now xx

My op isnt a standered due to the extent of my disability. It was the doctor who said it would take all day xx

Oh no sorry to hear that Sarah :-( x I didn't know your story hope all goes well for you x

Hi Joanne, are you having it done on nhs? Where is the surgeon based? Are you able to say his name? (Not sure of rules on here). I'm asking because I'm in London and have had the right hip done posterior as I couldn't find a surgeon who would do anterior. To be fair I have had a totally textbook recovery and an over a year now but I will need my left one done at some point and would like a choice if possible.
