SIMVASTATIN = 20mg

I was prescribed this drug, although I did not have high cholesterol, it was to be used as a preventative drug, as I am diabetic.
I had noticed that my bra was becoming uncomfortable and bought some new ones. Still I had the problem and was going half the day without a bra to get some relief. I must have bought 15 new bras over this time because of discomfort.
My right breast became so sore and uncomfortable that I arranged to have a mammogram. This was later shown to be clear of any cancer.
I had to go to my doctor because of the soreness and was given anti-inflammatories. After taking the course I felt worse than ever. I was not at that time told to refrain from taking the Simvastatin tablet at night time. I was on high painkillers too - in order to just get to sleep at night- my breasts were so painful I could hardly move.
I returned to my doctor just the other day, where COSTOCHONDRITIS was confirmed. I was given heavy pain relief and the same inflammatories to help. I WAS THEN TOLD NOT TO TAKE THE SIMVASTATIN and almost immediately felt better for it. I have now gone for 4 days without taking this tablet at night and my condition has improved. So much so, that I did not need any pain relief last night or so far today.
I spent 4 weeks in absolute agony. Going without a bra, my right breast so tender I couldn't tolerate my own arm brushing against it. I must have spent around £100 on different types of bras. Propping my breast up over a cushion in order to read a book. Was incapable of lifting even a plate without pain.
The 'sheet' enclosed with these tablets does not tell of COSTOCHONDRITIS and I feel that it most certainly should.
In a month's time I have to return to my doctor and no doubt be put on another type of Statin and to be honest I am dreading it.
Has anyone else encountered this type of pain or reaction to a Statin please?

I've been taking simvastatin (1 per night) for 3 months without any side effects. However, there was a scare recently concerning simvastatin being taken in conjunction with some other drug (can't remember the name). Browse on internet for
recent (last 2 months) press reports...just search \"simvastatin\".
