Slowly Getting There

Hi everyone,

I am still on Olanzapine, it is working great for me. I also saw the rheumatologist who has given me Fibromyalgia as a diagnosis as well but wants to do a bone scan to make sure nothing was missed. On top of that I was sent to physiotherapy in the hospital and they are going to try hydro physiotherapy with me and get me to do a pain management course. Things are looking up in that regard. However, I am incredibly rundown (been on two antibiotics in the past month alone) so my body is starting to fight with me again. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to build up my immune system?

If you're happy with your meds, besides lots of vitamins and minerals, I would say remove all allergen foods. That is go "Paleo" as much as possible.

I've read quite a bit of negativity on the paleo diet and can't exactly afford to follow it anyway. I have already cut out all of the foods that I am allergic too though. I have also heard that restricting yourself something can actually lead you to develop a sensitivity towards it so I'm always hesitant about it.

Moderation is a good life principe. if you still eat wheat and dairy then if possible go organic. Detoxing is also very important. I'm using Lugol's iodine. King regards.

I don't eat dairy as I am allergic. I tend to eat wholegrains and research suggests that they are generally neutral on their effects. I find it's best to try and tailor a diet to the person rather than follow a diet that suits someone else but from your support of it it seems it's working well for you, which is good to hear.

I went Paleo a few years ago..marvellous, unbelievable hiw it has helped....please google it..you will be pleasantly surprised...soo good you have a diagnosis, hope your meds really work well for you..remembering that less stress is the key to living with Fibro. I do hydrotherapy too, it's really good for you,...such gentle excersing..also had the complete body bone scan...come back normal..apart from seeing my osteo-arthritis-which we new about.. the pain management course will give you sooo many tips..well done you..it's like a celebration when things positively start to happen...hope all goes really well for you Leumondnewra..it's a good start once you know what your dealing with..be blessed and gave a really lovely  week..:-) xxx

I have googled it, I don't buy it. Their are dieticians who don't like it. A better practice is to build a diet around a person than try to force them in to a 'one for all' type situation. Everyone's different.

Most dieticians don't believe in it here in Australia either, but a lot of doctors and specialists are starting to see the Paleo light....after all it's really only hiw their grandparents would have eaten...all natural etc.....and it's not really a one for all diet, it's more a lifestyle...I've researched it too much not to believe.,as well as my health results.. I'm a living testimony to it working for me..and as you say..it fits around me not I around it..I am sooo glad you did give it a look Leimodnunewra, we certainly have to check everything out like that...it's certainly not for everyone...have a lovely day..be blessed..:-) xxx

I am glad it helps you Christine. Fibro really is one of those things where you have to try it all, huh? I am going to keep an eye on my symptoms and food though, just in case I do end up needing to go more that way, it always helps to keep track of everything anyway

Hi Leimondnunewra;  I understand what you are saying, as I too eat what my body tells me what to eat....if you understand what I am trying to say....there are some days/weeks, when I really crave a certain type of food, and then there are times that I can't even stand the thought of same. To me, I feel my body is telling me what I am lacking....I began to recognize this nearly 35 years ago, when going through my pregnancies,.....expecially hit me with number 2 ....I had always detested Cooked Cabbage (always liked to eat it raw), but during the pregnancy, I Craved it....with number 4, I craved ice-cream....always had a big bowl at night, but now, hardly eat it all....so that's what I do now, too...eat what I want in moderation.  many will say I'm wrong, and they could very well be right, but I want to enjoy what I can, so do so............Bron

That's for  sure Leimodnunewra, we have to just check keep track of

everything we do including eating..sooo time consuming sometimes..but by doing this we will get there, I only have flare ups now....I've had Fibro andSjogrens fior what seems like a lifetime..   have a lovely day..it's 1/4 to 9am and quite cold over here at the moment, but it's fresh and the cleanest air in the world...have a lovely day...be blessed.,:-) xxx

    Hello Leimodnunewra,

Been following you discussion with great interest. I think you are absolutely right to tailor your diet around the person. Have heard a lot about the Paleo diet, and quite a few people on here and In USA ( on another site I look at), have started to follow it. Also totally agree with Bronwyn, your body does tell you what to eat. I think for all of us, whatever we do, moderation is the key.

As for your original question about immunity, sorry don'y know the answer to that, there are probably vitamins you can take. Hope someone might pitch in with that one.

    Take care, Anne
