Some help please...

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with fibro after months of born, joint and muscle pain. Saw the pain a management consultant who checked my pressure points and I re-acted to all of them. I hadn't noticed how painful my body was. My main issue is the pain in my shoulders, shoulder tips, collarbone and sernum. It's really painful sad so painful that it makes me worry and think it's somthing more worse (all tests for everything else are normal).

My questions are:

Can fibro pain be really painful? Like knive pain? Severe aching?

And can you be pain free for 4-5 weeks then have a flare up of pain that lasts the same amount of time?

Paracetamol rarely touches the pain and as I'm feeding my baby I can't take anything else sad

Thank you for reading.

Gem

I never have had real down times but my pain feel sometimes stabbing but also like pins and needles. I would see about going to a Rheumatologist! I'm sorry you take anything more because of the baby. Please take care of yourself.

The answer to your questions is yes, yes and yes.

I really feel for you with a baby to look after....I find it hard when the pain comes living alone.

Last week I was normal, yesterday I started a bad attack (as I call it) and today I am hardly able to move and in so much pain,in the same places you describe.

You are not alone,I am sure others will answer to your comment.

Take care, and lots of cashmere hugs.x

I have fluctuating pain all the time, have good and bad days and have attacks of symptoms where I am knocked out of action for days until the exhaustion and pain pass. I type this as I am in the middle of a 3 day attack! Thank god for game of thrones boxset as I can barely move off my sofa!

Hi Gem, pain can be soooo variable. In the past I have had severe pain in my hips and also back so incredibly painful that It took me ages to walk, get upstairs and to change position in bed, sometimes crying out a loud. Presently my main pain is in my upper arms and left shoulder. It's like a very deep ache but sometimes for a couple of seconds it is so painful that it makes me want to cry.

Hi Gem, yes to all your questions I have exactly the same pain in the same place I also used to think I hade something much worse because of the severity of the pain, but yes that's fibro for you,

I do feel for you only being able to take paracetamol as your feeding your baby,

I struggle most of the time and take really strong pain releife

I've had fibro a long time now and still don't know any answers

Only advice is look after yourself don't overdo things even on your good days as it normally means paying for it,

That in itself is hard because when we feel good we think we can concker the world,

A good diet is very advisable,

I also use a magnisium spray on my joints, vitamin D and vitamin B12 spray in the mouth, coconut capsules, coconut water and milk plus coconut oil and have found an improvement in the past 6 months although small,

    Wish you a happy Easter

    Gentle hugs leona

What I meant by no down time was I always have some kind of pain. Then there are days like today doing a few things to get ready for Easter in the USA that I slept for over 4 hours this afternoon of complete exhaustion as well as pain. Everyone hang in there Happy Easter!

    Hi Gem

Yes, I too had pains before my first was born for about 4 years. During my pregnancy I was pain free and had the best nine months ever. After I gave birth my pains came back with avengence. As before the pregnancy I was only suffering with pains in my right hand. After birth it was in both hands. It was difficult times ahead. When my son was 18 months I could no longer hold him. It was so hard for me but he was great and understood at an early age that I was unable to hold him but knew how much I loved him. He used to come to my appointments with my chiropractor at the time he was 18 months and when he used to hear the clicks in my neck shoulders......he said "mum u ok" he always bought a smile to my face. During my second pregnancy I was pain free again. Again after pregnancy it all came back again. There is a seven year gap between my two boys but they are so comforting. My youngest who is now 10 is my support on a day to day basis and gives me the reason to be positive and to be happy.

I feel for you Gem but I will say it can be frustrating but it's taken me years to finally accept the pains now suffering for over 20 years only diagnosed last August 2014, that do try and make time for yourself whenever you get a chance. You will not have time with your new born but as time goes on remember you are just as important as anyone else.

Take care n gentle hugs ! biggrin x

works the other way as well with the menopause i know my pain and fatigue has been worse for the last few years and my male gp wouldnt do a hormonal test i had a hyesterctomy so cant tell from physical symptoms .

the female doctor i saw last week said she would include  hormonal test as well . so lets hope the test shows something that can be treated

Thank you to all of your replies smile too many to reply individually.

I am glad to know that my symptoms are kind of "normal" for fibro.

It is a horrible thing to deal with everyday, I hate being in pain. Especially because then my mind starts to wonder and I start looking up things on the Internet and scare myself.

At the moment my shoulders (especially my left side) is beginging to hurt again. My wrist bone near my thumb on my right hand is hurting. The bones on my knuckles on my right hand are hurting. My knees hurt.

Can fibro cause your ears and skull (behind your ear) to hurt? I'm getting it both sides but worse on my right.

    Can it also cause headaches?

Sorry so many questions but I find speaking to the people who have it a lot more informative then just reading about it.

Happy Easter to you all smile

Hi Gem, it's so easy to google things now which is a good thing as it can help us to become more knowledgable about any problems we have with our health but as you have experienced, it can also scare us. At one stage I became quite obsessed with trawling the internet, looking for anything fibro. Anyhow, yes, fibro can cause headaches, particularly migraines and pain anywhere within the body. I have had pain around my ears which has woken me up when I lie on them and fibro being fibro it won't be unusual to have pain behind your ears. Hope this helps,

      Caroline

Thank you for replying Caroline smile

Sorry you suffer with fibro too. I'm new to it so not sure what to expect an what is "normal" for fibro sufferers.

It's reassuring that some of the regular pain I have seen to be pointing to it being fibro related. So thank you for taking the time to reply.

      Gem
